The Boruto anime is about to conclude its "Part 1", which lasted more than six years, and a second season has already been announced. Considering that, based on the manga, Boruto's story is getting close to the timeskip foreshadowed since the first episode, Season 2 will be Boruto's version of Naruto Shippuden. The official accounts and websites of the series have announced that Boruto: Naruto Next Generations will end on March 26, 2023, with episode #293. A second season of the anime is already in production and set to debut at a still-unrevealed date. This may come as a surprise for fans, considering that the Boruto anime had only recently caught up with the manga after a long sequence of filler episodes. With just three episodes remaining, it's likely that Part 1 of Boruto will conclude after the fight between the villain Code and the two sworn brothers Boruto and Kawaki.Related: Boruto's Anime Just Made Naruto's Big Nerf Even Worse

Boruto's Announced Part 2 Will Be Similar To Naruto Shippuden

Boruto is quite unusual because, unlike most other anime, it is not split into seasons but keeps a progressive numbering of its episodes. The anime debuted in March 2017 with the title Boruto: Naruto Next Generations and was proceeded by Boruto: Naruto the Movie in August 2015. The anime is based on the manga written by Masashi Kishimoto and illustrated by Mikio Ikemoto, which began serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump in May 2016, and then moved to the monthly V Jump in July 2019. The series has received mixed reviews, with many fans drawing unkind comparisons with its predecessor Naruto, while others remain fiercely loyal to the sequel, despite its obvious issues.

Anime fans struggled with the copious amount of filler episodes, a problem that plagued Naruto too. However, with the announcement of the conclusion of Part 1, Boruto can learn from its predecessor and come back in a new, renovated form similar to Naruto Shippuden. The original Naruto manga is divided into two parts. The first series ends with the epic first duel between Naruto and Sasuke at the Valley of the End. After that, the story jumps forward two and a half years and the second part begins, which was adapted into a different anime called Naruto Shippuden. Considering that the Boruto manga is also quickly approaching the moment of its timeskip, the anime will follow a similar pattern too.

Part 1 Of Boruto Will End Before The Timeskip

The main difference seems to be that, while the split between the two parts of Naruto happened at the same time in the manga and the anime, Boruto will be different. Considering that there are only three episodes left, Part 1 of the anime will end after the fight between Naruto and Code in the woods of Konoha, which happens some time before the timeskip, which still has to happen in the manga. This could mean that the Boruto manga is actually nowhere close to its ending, otherwise Part 2 of the anime will have very little material to adapt.

Fans of the franchise will certainly be waiting for Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Part 2, to see if it will live up to the standards set by Naruto Shippuden. Meanwhile, the last three episodes of Part 1 will air every Sunday until March 26 on Crunchyroll.
