Despite being the senior member of Kara responsible for the development of its cutting edge ninja-tech, and its all-important spirit transferring kama technology, Boruto's Amado remains the primary mystery of the manga with implications for the larger Naruto universe itself. To be sure, outside of a brief reveal that he has a daughter who died about 12 years before the events of Boruto, who Amado is, how he became so smart, and what his ultimate endgame is has been pure conjecture unless one considers Naruto's old nemesis Orochimaru.

Orochimaru, who is a generation older than Naruto, was one of the greatest shinobi of his time. A member of the legendary Sannin trio, Orochimaru's skills were unmatchable. However, with an undying thirst for more knowledge and a desire to master every jutsu ever created, Orochimaru eventually became convinced that the only way to accomplish his goal meant that he would have to live forever. Convinced that immortality was the key to his success, Orochimaru began experimenting on others in order to divine how one might be able to live permanently. Ultimately, his plans and experiments brought him into conflict with Konoha Village leaders and community morals. This resulted in his being labeled a criminal and ostracized from Konoha society. Orochimaru was undeterred by his banishment from Konoha. In fact, Orochimaru used his former community's hatred of him as a source of inspiration to succeed in his efforts to become immortal. Over the years, Orochimaru was able to develop a number of cutting-edge technologies including the ability to transfer his spirit and essence from one body to another, as well as the creation of viable cyborgs such as his "son" Mitsuki.

This all supports the theory that some link exists between Orochimaru and Amado. Indeed, based on what is known of both, every indication points to Amado being Orochimaru, himself.  The similarities in their abilities and desires are too close to dismiss. Orochimaru has spent a lifetime developing the technologies that Amado has used to build incredibly powerful and innovative technologies. For instance, Orochimaru's ability to transfer his essence into another body and subsume that body's soul is uncannily similar to Amado's kama technology that allowed Isshiki Otsutsuki to transfer his essence into Kawaki and Code.

The deeper the comparison between the abilities of Orochimaru and Amado, the easier it is to conclude that they must be the same person. So far, Orochimaru has been absent from Boruto, despite the fact that his son is a member of Team 7. Moreover, it seems unlikely that Kara could recruit such a high-powered expert from the ranks of shinobi unless they were so harmed or hurt by the ninja community that they would turn their backs on it, much like what led Orochimaru to join the Akatsuki war against Konoha. What expert, other than Orochimaru, would be willing to conduct the types of experiments Amado performed for Kara? Many of these experiments involved child trafficking to get him the necessary test subjects.

The mindset and expertise that is necessary to do what Amado has done in Boruto are of a caliber that only comes along rarely. The only other person in the Naruto universe to exhibit the same abilities as Amado is Orochimaru. While it is possible that Konoha might produce two such individuals around the same time, their backgrounds, similar focuses, and skill sets suggest the more likely reality is they are the same person.
