Warning: SPOILERS for Boruto #74The most broken power in Boruto finally shows to have a potential weakness. Eida's power to make everyone fall in love with her has been warping the series since its introduction, but chapter #74 of Boruto shows that two unsuspecting shinobi are immune to this overpowered ability.

Boruto is the sequel to Naruto, a series that became famous for its progressive power creep, introducing a sequence of powers and abilities that were each more impressive than those that came before. Boruto is following a similar tendency but focuses on scientific-derived powers rather than ninja techniques. The evil organization, Kara, has created a number of impressive cyborgs, who have displayed powers that put Naruto to shame. None of these, however, is more broken than Eida's ability to make everyone who sees her, regardless of gender or status, instantly fall in love and unable to resist her commands.

Until now, the only people immune to Eida's power were those with the Otsutsuki genes, as a precaution taken by the former leader of Kara, Isshiki Otsutsuki. Chapter #74 of Boruto, however, hints that there is still something hiding behind this mysterious ability, including another potential weakness. As part of a deal between Eida and Konohagakure, the woman and her brother, Daemon, move into the village to leave with Boruto and Kawaki, who both possess Otsutsuki genes and are thus immune to her powers, basically turning Boruto into a rom-com. Konoha also sets up a surveillance team with several young shinobi, who all fall victim to Eida's ability as soon as she appears, with two exceptions: Sarada Uchiha (Sasuke and Sakura's daughter), and Shikadai Nara (the son of Shikamaru and Temari).

Eida's Broken Power Has A Secret Weakness

It's not clear why the two were immune to Eida's power. The only clue is that both Shikadai and Sarada mention not being able to see Eida clearly, which means that her power could require visual contact with her victims. This would be a very easy weakness to exploit, as many shinobi can fight without relying on sight, using their chakra perception or other senses. However, this solution seems too simple, and in fact, Sarada mentions that there could be some "individual variation" behind this immunity. It's also interesting to note that not even Mitsuki, who is a synthetic human created as a partial clone of Orochimaru, is immune to Eida's power, which can then also affect unusual biology.

Eida's overpowered ability and her brother Daemon's ridiculous strength have completely changed the look of Boruto, for better or for worse. The series is finally setting up countermeasures for these broken powers, and hopefully Boruto will soon reveal the secret behind Sarada and Shikadai's immunity to Eida's ability.
