Warning: Contains spoilers for Boruto #70

The most powerful character introduced in Boruto has an eye technique that makes Naruto's famous Sharingan look weak in comparison. Eida, a still-mysterious villain in Boruto, possesses the Senrigan which, paired with her completely broken "love power", makes her one of the most powerful characters to ever appear in the series.

Among the many ninja techniques and abilities introduced in Naruto, Dojutsu (eye techniques) became some of the most popular. These are techniques that utilize the eyes of the user for various effects; the three most famous, and powerful, Dojutsu are the Byakugan, the Rinnegan, and the Sharingan. The latter is the trademark of the Uchiha clan and of his most famous member, Sasuke. The god-tier Sharingan initially granted Sasuke increased perception and the power to hypnotize his opponents, creating elaborate illusions. After evolving it to its perfected form, the Mangekyo Sharingan, the user gains even more powerful abilities: they can create the inextinguishable flames of Amaterasu, a giant chakra avatar (Susanoo), and even teleport through dimensions. Boruto introduced a number of new god-tier Dojutsu, with the most interesting and powerful one being without a doubt Eida's Senrigan.

Eida is a cyborg, a human being modified with Scientific Ninja Tools by Amado, the scientist formerly working for the villainous organization Kara. Amado planned to betray Kara's leader, Jigen, so he modified Eida and her brother Daemon to be even stronger than the powerful vessel of Isshiki Otsutsuki. While the full extent of Eida's abilities has yet to be shown, she displayed one power that, alone, could turn the Naruto world upside down. Eida's presence instantly enchants all around her into becoming completely captivated with her, unable to harm her or resist her commands. However, Eida's other power might be even scarier. The Senrigan gives Eida the ability to project her consciousness to any location and to see and hear anything happening there. But that's not all, the Senrigan also gives complete knowledge of any past event up to the moment of Eida's birth.

Eida's ability to instantly control everyone who is in her presence makes them one of the most powerful persons in the world. She can control the most powerful shinobi, the Kages, the leaders of the Five Countries, and even entire battlefields. On top of that, thanks to the Senrigan, Eida is essentially omniscient. Nothing can be hidden from her, not just in the present, but in the past too. This last specification means that plotting against Eida would be pointless: she could just eavesdrop on anyone scheming against her at any point in time and know exactly how to anticipate her enemies. The Infinite Tsukuyomi is one of the most powerful Sharingan techniques, able to trap the entire world in an illusion, enslaving the human population in a dream by reflecting the Sharingan over the Moon. However, Eida can rule Boruto's world without needing such an elaborate plan: she can just enslave the most powerful and influential people, and use her Senrigan as the ultimate surveillance nightmare, making sure that nothing escapes her watch.

The villains appearing in Boruto felt a little underwhelming up to this point. Isshiki Otsutsuki and his replacement, Code, do not feel very threatening or nuanced compared to Naruto's great cast of antagonists. Eida, however, is definitively the most interesting new villain introduced in Boruto, and even if she has yet to engage in a real battle, the abilities she has shown until now make even the famous Sharingan look weak.
