A new The Book of Boba Fett poster features Danny Trejo as the rancor trainer, which might be the closest we'll get to Machete in Space. Trejo announced an update in November of 2018 regarding the third installment of the Machete series. The actor's first role as Machete was in the popular children's film Spy Kids, appearing as Carmen and Juni Cortez's uncle. Trejo appeared in two more Spy Kids films but finally received his own Machete movie in 2010. A second film came out three years later, with the third being in development for quite a while.

Trejo's latest role is in the new Star Wars show The Book of Boba Fett, starring as a rancor trainer. He appeared in the third episode "Chapter 3: The Streets of Mos Espa," with Boba Fett selling the rancor to Trejo's character. Despite the short screen time in the episode, fans enjoyed seeing him in the Star Wars universe, with the actor himself posting a BTS tweet after the episode with Temuera Morrison and the rancor.

Star Wars tweeted three new posters, with the other two showing water monger Lortha Peel (Stephen Root), best known for his role Office Space, and the two speeder punks that Boba Fett hired off the streets, Drash (Sophie Thatcher) and Skad (Jordan Bolger), who both star in Yellowjackets.

Having Trejo in a space-themed series has reminded fans of Machete Kills In Space (also known as Machete 3)wondering whether the film will ever be released. Trejo spoke in 2020 about the film's release, talking about how the delay was all down to Machete's director Robert Rodriguez. He is currently the director of The Book of Boba Fett, but has also directed an episode of The Mandalorian. Whether the film will be released or not, it is safe to say that seeing Danny Trejo in space gear is certainly reminiscent of the yet-to-be-released film.
