Warning! Spoilers ahead for The Book of Boba Fett season 1 finale.

There were several issues on The Book of Boba Fett finale, but arguably its biggest one is its bad action. After the success of The Mandalorian, Lucasfilm launched multiple spin-offs of the series, including the Temuera Morrison-led show on Disney+. But unlike its parent show, The Book of Boba Fett was plagued with criticisms from both fans and critics. Unfortunately, its much-anticipated finale did little in terms of fixing those problems.

After years of rumors, The Mandalorian season 2 officially confirmed that the beloved Star Wars bounty hunter survived the Sarlacc pit. Riding high from fans' excitement overseeing the character again, Lucasfilm greenlit The Book of Boba Fett which revealed more of his journey after the events of Return of the Jedi and his current goal to take over Jabba the Hutt's empire in Mos Espa. However, despite its potential, the show failed to capture the public the way The Mandalorian did.

But aside from issues about pacing and its two filler episodes that barely had anything to do with Boba Fett, The Book of Boba Fett's finale presented a new issue that's quite difficult to miss: its action sequences were awful. Since it culminated with the brewing war between Boba Fett and the Pyke Syndicate, the whole offering was pretty much a series of fight scenes that made things worse. Directed by Robert Rodriguez and written by Jon Favreau, there were so many cuts that stilted what could've been cool set pieces. There were also barely any memorable bits, even with Boba Fett and Din Djarin's (Pedro Pascal) team-up moment. To make things worse, the logistical blockings and fight choreography didn't make sense, leaving much dead air while additional characters did not do anything in the background.

What makes this more interesting is that this isn't the first time that Favreau and Rodriguez teamed up. The pair previously collaborated on The Mandalorian season 2, episode 6, "The Tragedy," and that had great action sequences — both individual and collective. So, it's curious why The Book of Boba Fett finale ended up being a disappointment. It could have something to do with the fact that the episode itself wasn't properly staged. The sequencing in itself was already odd, with the people of Freetown coming in at an odd time, while the whole ordeal against the Scorpenek annihilator droids with shields lasted a tad too long. Couple this with the idea that Rodriguez's signature filmmaking style featuring quick cuts and intense zooms, and it, unfortunately, just didn't work overall.

No word yet if The Book of Boba Fett season 2 is in the cards. But its finale appears to effectively set it up with the post-credits scene featuring Cobb Vanth (Timothy Olyphant) recuperating inside the bacta tank. In the meantime, fans can look forward to a string of other Star Wars shows coming, such as Andor, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and The Mandalorian season 3.
