Daniel Craig is expected to return to the Bond 25 set next week after recovering from his ankle injury. Following a bumpy road to production (which saw the entire creative team get overhauled), the latest installment in the legendary action franchise finally started rolling the cameras earlier this year, ahead of its scheduled 2020 release date. Unfortunately, Bond 25 encountered yet another setback during production, when Craig got hurt on location in Jamaica back in May.

Movie fans will recall Tom Cruise fractured his ankle while filming Mission: Impossible - Fallout, which caused production to be halted for months while he recuperated. Fortunately, it does not appear Craig's ankle injury is as severe. Bond 25 remains on course for its April 2020 premiere, and 007 himself will be back in action in the near future.

The official James Bond Instagram account shared a picture of Craig working out in the Pinewood Studios gym, wearing a walking boot on his injured ankle. Per the caption, the actor plans to return to the set next week for filming. Check it out in the space below:

One of the reasons why Bond 25 stayed on track is because director Cary Fukunaga and company continued shooting while Craig healed. Obviously, 007 is the star of the show, but odds are he won't be in every scene in the film. That made it possible to rework the shooting schedule so some of the non-Craig sequences could be completed during these last couple of weeks. Now, things will be able to return to normal. Craig's ankle must be in good shape if he's clear for filming; it goes without saying James Bond is a physically demanding role. Even though there are stunt doubles, Craig likes to do as much action as he can, and he has the medical bills to prove it (among his other injuries are losing teeth and the tip of his finger). It would perhaps be smart for Craig to take things easy in the beginning, but he shouldn't have too many limitations.

Hopefully, it'll be smooth sailing on Bond 25 from here. The film marks the end of Craig's tenure and hopes to send him off on a high note. While Craig's performances as Bond have been praised, the overall quality of the movies around him varies. Over the years, he's experienced the highs of Casino Royale and Skyfall and the lows of Quantum of Solace and Spectre. But with Fukunaga at the helm, people are excited about Bond 25's on-paper potential and ideally it'll be the next great 007 adventure.
