Those watching Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives on Netflix were in for a treat when they saw Janhvi Kapoor on screen. But what astonished B-Town fanatics further was Janhvi revealing that she’d received a special video message from none other than Keeping Up With The Kardashians star Kylie Jenner. Especially, because of the sweet fact that Janhvi has been compared to Kylie plenty of times since her B-Town debut.
It’s been a week since Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives premiered on the streaming platform, introducing fans to Maheep Kapoor, Neelam Kothari, Bhavana Pandey, and Seema Khan. The reality show gives a fly-on-the-wall view into the brunches and bickering sessions of the four ladies, all belong to the most famous families of India’s Bollywood film industry. Be it their casual discussions over Paris’ prestigious Le Ball or taking impromptu weekend trips to Qatar, these besties do not shy away from showing off their stardom. But, while amidst the brunches, bickering, and Botox sessions, one also does meet the equally starry family members of these Bollywood Wives. Mostly, Maheep Kapoor, who boasts of a large enough family tree to shade a village of critics. Sanjay Kapoor’s wifey has been shining the brightest on the Netflix show, and her roping in niece Janhvi for a “cool mom” session was the icing on the cake. But while Ghost Stories star Janhvi, 23, didn’t get much screen time on Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives, she did cause a jaw-drop moment for many when she showed off her connection with Kylie, also 23.
The daughter of Bollywood’s power couple producer Boney Kapoor and the late superstar Sridevi Kapoor, Janhvi debuted in 2018 with her popular romantic drama Dhadak. However, being a star-kid also meant that Janhvi was in the limelight way before her big-screen debut, much like her cousin Shanaya from Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives. When fans had first spotted Janhvi and her younger sister Khushi, all grown up, they couldn’t help but notice how similar they looked to Kylie and Kendall Jenner! With their impeccable style and Instagram aesthetics, they were giving Bollywood fans a taste of the Kar-Jenner vibe. In fact, in 2017, iDiva also noted how “Kendall and Kylie were irreplaceable. That was until Sridevi introduced her first and second born to the world.” Be it Janhvi’s hair, or Khushi’s height, both the Kapoor sisters are strangely dead ringers for the Jenner siblings. One scroll through Janhvi’s Instagram is proof enough that she and Kylie share a mutual love for bodycon dresses, statement-making lips, and more.
So it sure comes as a surprise when claiming Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives’ star Maheep is “living a very Kardashian life,” Janhvi gets asked about the time Kylie wished her on her birthday. “Just show it to me,” asks aunt Maheep and Janhvi coyly hands over her phone which has Kylie saying, “Hey, Janhvi, it’s Kylie. We love you.” And while Maheep jokes that her Bollywood Wives co-star and Kim Kardashian worshipper Seema would “have a heart attack” with Kylie wished her instead, the internet too is going “ba-llistic” over Janhvi’s subtle flex. Twitter user @FrankbyXmas has gushed, “KYLIE JENNER SENT JANHVI KAPOOR A HAPPY BIRTHDAY VID???? the clout levels are off the charts,” but @tbfhprincess thinks it’s no big deal by tweeting, “Kylie sent Janhvi a bday wish. I mean how can one not wish her, she’s Janhvi.”
Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives may be getting called out for being “too planned” or “too choreographed,” but one can’t certainly deny that the Kylie-Janhvi scene was one of the juiciest revelations to come out of the Netflix show. Perhaps it'll be Janhvi who shows up on an episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians next.
