BoJack Horseman’s Vincent Adultman might look like 3 kids stacked together in a trench coat, but what if he’s actually a real adult? BoJack Horseman is set in a world where humans and talking animals exist side by side, and follows the misadventures of the title character, the bitter, washed-up star of a sitcom called Horsin’ Around. While reviews for the first season of the show were mixed, later seasons have received acclaim for being hilarious whilst also tackling darker themes like depression, addiction, and loneliness.

While BoJack Horseman has grown as a character over time, the same can’t be said for former recurring character Vincent Adultman. The mysterious Vincent – voiced by Alison Brie - first appears in the episode “Horse Majeure,” where BoJack Horseman’s agent and former girlfriend Princess Carolyn flirts with him at a bar. Vincent looks like a young boy and has the voice to match, and Horseman immediately points out he’s clearly 3 kids stacked together in a coat. Vincent also talks about life and work in very childish ways, including referring to his job on the stock market as doing “a business.”

There are other tell-tale signs, like Princess Carolyn apparently never seeing Vincent Adultman out of his coat, and the fact he has a broom head on one hand and a mannequin arm on the other. In BoJack Horseman season 2, Carolyn meets Vincent’s supposed son Kevin – who looks and sounds exactly like him. The two characters are never seen together at the same time either, including an elaborate scene where one of them talks while the other’s face is covered or obscured. She breaks up with him during the episode “After The Party.”

While Vincent Adultman is almost certainly Kevin and some other kids masquerading as a grown-up, the show has never provided a clear answer either way. Outside of BoJack Horseman himself, none of the other characters see him as a boy, and the other 2 kids who make up Vincent's body have never been seen either. Vincent Adultman hasn’t been seen since season 2, and BoJack Horseman showrunner Raphael Bob-Waksberg has revealed this is because he prefers the mystery of the character.

Since BoJack Horseman moves in real-time and the character’s age, it stands to reason that if Vincent Adultman really is a boy in disguise, he’d visibly age too, which would answer the question. It’s funnier to have that mystery, even if the answer seems obvious. That said, if Vincent Adultman actually is an adult, that leads to even more questions, like why does he have a broom for a hand? While this sadly means the character probably won’t reappear in future seasons, its best left to viewers to decide for themselves.
