The Bob’s Burger movie released a new poster and revealed a 2022 release date. Created by Loren Bouchard, Bob’s Burgers broke into the adult animation world when it premiered on FOX in 2011. Hailed as one of the best animated series on the air, Bob’s Burgers follows the Belcher family, Patriarch Bob (H. Jon Benjamin), Linda (John Roberts), Tina (Dan Mintz), Gene (Eugene Mirman), and Louise (Kristen Schaal).
Owners of the titular hamburger restaurant, the Belcher family navigates life in a small coastal town...and occasionally performs a musical number. In 2017, Bob’s Burgers announced that Bob’s Burgers: The Movie would release in July 2020. However, the film came to an abrupt halt amid the coronavirus pandemic and the film's release date was shuffled around, ultimately leading to Bob’s Burgers: The Movie being pulled from Disney’s release slate. Recently, Bouchard revealed that work was still being done on the movie, and he intends for Bob's Burgers: The Movie to be released in movie theaters.
After a long wait, Bob’s Burgers shared a new poster on Twitter and announced that the film will make a theatrical debut on May 27, 2022. Featured as part of FOX’s animation block, which includes The Simpsons and Family Guy, Bob’s Burgers has been renewed up to season 13 and is expected to run through 2023. Of course, the release date for Bob’s Burgers: The Movie is good news for fans of the series. Already surpassing 200 episodes, Bob’s Burgers is long overdue for a feature film that places the Belchers on the big screen. As it stands, the adventures of Bob's Burgers have always been featured on the small screen, and the full-length movie musical will bring new light to the hit television show. Indeed, Memorial Day weekend of 2022 is expected to pull in big box office returns, as Top Gun: Maverick was also delayed to May 2022.
While 2022 may feel like a long way off for fans who have already waited over three years for Bob’s Burgers: The Movie, and the possible reveal of why Louise wears bunny ears, it can be expected that the creative forces behind the series have reserved some of the best material for the feature film. For now, the upcoming season could provide lots of fresh misadventures, ridiculous plots, and deadpan delivery for viewers to soak up while waiting for the movie. Bob’s Burgers season 12 will kick off on September 26, 2021, on FOX.
