On Monday, Marvel Comics teased a surprising brand-new Boba Fett project. While details surrounding the new mysterious Star Wars installment haven't been revealed, the publisher did release a striking image of Fett in front of a damaged wall and announced that the full details would be coming tomorrow.

Boba Fett first debuted in the Star Wars Holiday Special before memorable appearances in live-action in both The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi as the bounty hunter was quested by Darth Vader via Jaba the Hutt to bring him the crew of the Millennium Falcon. Fett, son of Jango Fett, was successful in capturing Han Solo (who was famously frozen in carbonite). However, Fett was seemingly killed on Tattooine, after getting kicked into the Sarlacc Pitt by Han. While different comic stories have imagined how Fett survived the Sarlacc Pitt - with one story involving him dying to the beast a second timeThe Mandalorian streaming series reintroduced the character in its second season, revealing he survived in canon. Boba Fett will star in his own Disney+ series, The Book of Boba Fett, which is set to debut in December 2021.

Marvel Comics new teaser image shows Fett standing in front of a wall filled with blaster holes and other damage. Fett seems undeterred by the violence, as he stands with his legs spread wide, while holding weapons - a blaster in one hand, and a sharp spear in the other. The image shows him in black, which is likely the lighting on his normal armor, but it could be a new look for him. The text below the bounty hunter reads, "Boba Fett... nowhere to hide."

With so few details around the project besides the image, it's unclear where this story might take place in the Star Wars timeline. But, it would make sense if it took place between Fett surviving the Sarlacc Pitt to where he appears in The Mandalorian. While the Book of Boba Fett will surely dive into his backstory more, there's plenty of gaps to fill in how he survived and what transpired between then and meeting Din Djarin. So, the comic medium seems like the perfect place to tell those stories.

It's exciting to see more Boba Fett stories being told. After his surprise in-canon appearance in The Mandalorian, a ton of new potential avenues for storytelling surrounding the character was opened. A new comic could expand on his adventures while adding key details to what happened to him after the Sarlacc Pitt. Marvel Comics will reveal what this new image Boba Fett means tomorrow.
