The Mandalorian season 3 has placed a bigger emphasis on Katee Sackhoff's Bo-Katan Kryze, with the actress recently sharing her opinion on why Bo does not want to lead the Mandalorians. Since her introduction into the world of live-action Star Wars with The Mandalorian season 2, episode 3, Bo-Katan's mission has been to unite the people of Mandalore using the Darksaber and re-establish Mandalore as a safe haven for her people. Many often thought that this meant Bo-Katan sought to be the sole leader of Mandalore, but that no longer seems to be the case..

The end of The Mandalorian season 3, episode 3 saw Bo-Katan inducted into the Children of the Watch. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Sackhoff insisted she doesn't believe Bo would like to take up leadership of Mandalore again. "I truly believe at this point that she hopes someone else steps up," she observes. "She doesn't want the responsibility. The responsibility cost her everything... Leading didn't work, so maybe fitting in will."

Who Will Become The Leader Of Mandalore In The Mandalorian Season 3?

Din Djarin, Bo-Katan, and Grogu in The Mandalorian season 3

One of the biggest debates prior to The Mandalorian season 3's release was who would claim the Darksaber and lead the Mandalorians - Din Djarin or Bo-Katan. The end of The Mandalorian season 2 threw a spanner in the works for Bo-Katan, because Din unwittingly laid claim to the Darksaber. This resulted in Bo-Katan losing her forces, and many believed it set up an inevitable struggle for power between the two Mandos.

Sackhoff's comments suggest she believes there will no rivalry between the two, because Bo-Katan is not looking to lead Mandalore anymore. Although she has striven to lead Mandalore in the past, she has been unsuccessful. It is now clear Bo-Katan has come to a place where she hopes someone else will take her place.

It is appropriate, then, that the first three episodes of The Mandalorian season 3 have only served to bring Din Djarin and Bo-Katan closer together - perhaps hinting at a duel leadership in the future, or Bo-Katan simply choosing to be a follower. This would make sense given Din Djarin is, after all, the series lead. The introduction of a living, breathing Mythosaur in The Mandalorian season 3, episode 2 surely means the time is coming for Mandalorians to unite under one leader - and The Mandalorian will likely soon reveal who that leader will be.
