The ever-growing conspiracy surrounding Blue Box Studio's connection to Silent Hill deepens after a new video from an outsourcing studio rials up the internet. Blue Box has been the talk of the gaming community for the past two weeks after the studio hinted at the real title for its Abandoned project. Saying the game starts with an “S” and ends with an “L” immediately prompted the internet to believe that the project is Silent Hill. Rumors of a new Silent Hill have circulated for some time, and similarities between the release of the P.T demo and the upcoming Abandoned trailer app have not dampened these beliefs.

The studio has posted multiple times on Twitter that the project isn’t connected to Kojima, Konami, or Silent Hill in any way. Game director Hasan Karahman even revealed his face to try and stop the rumors. However, many are still skeptical, as Konami recently unveiled new merchandise for the Silent Hill series. The self-proclaimed “small indie studio” has also had interactions with Geoff Keighley, creator of the annual Game Awards and Summer Games Fest. This, coupled with the amount of support Sony is giving the studio, has prompted more speculation that there is more than the studio is letting on.

On June 23, Blue Box posted a video on Twitter from NUARE, an outsourcing art studio helping develop Abandoned. Its resume of projects includes AAA titles Halo Infinite, Ghost of Tsushima, and Destiny 2. However, the studio’s work on Death Stranding, a Kojima game, has got the conspiracies flying again. Its AAA game experience and connection to Kojima are only bringing more eyes to the conspiracy. While the video does little to talk about why Abandoned isn’t Silent Hill, it contradicts the Blue Box’s rhetoric that its game is an indie title.

With the delayed trailer app dropping onto the PS5 on June 25, the internet is preparing itself for the possible truth of what Abandoned is. According to Blue Box, the app will use the PS5 hardware to render the new trailer and other content in real-time. Players won’t control what happens in the trailer, but it’s intended to be an immersive experience.

Whether or not the game is Silent Hill or something completely new, it is hard to dismiss the level of intrigue that Blue Box has amassed for the reveal. If this project ends up being a reboot of Silent Hill or the canceled Silent Hills game, one could only imagine how the internet will react. The same could be said about how the reaction will be if the game is anything but a new Silent Hill. Regardless, the truth will be revealed very soon.
