An amazing new cosplay of Blue Beetle shows off perhaps the most advanced sci-fi armor in comics - a suit so versatile and advanced, even Tony Stark would give his right arm to try it out.
The latest incarnation of the Blue Beetle is Jaime Reyes, who became the third hero to use the name after the assumed death of Ted Kord, the second Blue Beetle. Jaime is a teenager from Texas who found a scarab in a vacant lot. Unbeknownst to him, the technological device was a piece of alien technology that fused with Jaime while he slept. The scarab is able to generate a suit of technological armor around Jaime and give him various powers, such as flight and giant energy blasters. The downside is that the suit has a mind of its own and often fights with Jaime on the best ways to handle situations.
Blue Beetle's alien suit is perfectly recreated in an epic new cosplay by Cosplaywill92 shared to Instagram. This is the latest in a long line of impressive armor pieces by Cosplaywill92, which includes a variety of DC heroes and villains, such as Red Hood, Red X, and Deathstroke. However, this newest piece is by far one of the artist’s most impressive with its perfectly shiny blue armor pieces and black bodysuit. The costume is completed with a blue and black mask, scarab pincers rising from the back and Blue Beetle’s signature blaster weapon affixed to the left arm. This is an incredibly ambitious costume, as Blue Beetle is not an easy look to pull off. One of the most impressive facets of the Blue Beetle armor is its ability to shift mass in order to create different tools. Unlike Iron Man, whose suits are built for specific challenges, the Beetle armor is always changing, and Jaime's potential is almost limitless. From energy weapons to shields to jetpacks and advanced scientific equipment, Jaime's biggest challenge is communicating to the armor what's needed at any given time. Cosplaywill92 nails not just the unbeatable potential of the armor, but the somehow friendly appearance of a character who nevertheless boasts world-class firepower.
Jaime Reyes and his Blue Beetle scarab have come a long way in the comics. They defeated the aliens known as the Reach, they became prominent members of the Teen Titans and eventually the Justice League. Unlike his predecessors, this version of the Blue Beetle is able to take on even high-level threats with a multitude of powers and abilities. Maybe that is why Jaime has become the most popular Blue Beetle in comics, and with a new DCEU movie coming out in 2023 that popularity among fans will only go up.
