Fortnite has been giving players a new set of challenge quests each week since the beginning of Season 5. These quests are a great way to grind XP and explore different areas around the Battle Royal map. New to season 5 is the fishing mechanic, which players can use to find weapons, ammo, and... fish in bodies of water. While most players will be using fishing rods to catch fish, there's another way they could go about it.

By completing the week 6 challenge, players will learn how to catch fish by blowing them up. The easiest way to do this is by finding a nearby speed boat and nuking the water when a Fishing Hole pops up. They're recognizable as white swells in the otherwise undisturbed water. This will kill all the surrounding fish and reward players with loot. Here's exactly how to blow up Fishing Holes in Fortnite and complete the week six challenge.

There are two challenges tied to blowing up Fishing Holes in week 6:

  • Blow up Fishing Holes at Sharky Shell, Sweaty Sand, or Flopper Pond (0/3)
  • Blow up Fishing Holes at Lazy Lake Island, Lake Canoe, and near Steamy Stack. (0/3)

Fishing Holes can be blown up with an explosive weapon. Grenades will be a player's best bet as rocket/grenade launchers, like The Big Chill, are hard to come by, and the ammo is coveted. Alternatively, a speedboat will get the job done at lightning speed and without wasting any ammo. Drive around the specific body of water and rain hell upon any Fishing Hole that pops up with the speedboat's missiles. Of course, there won't always be a speedboat nearby, so players should have a few grenades on hand just in case. This isn't a challenge that can be completed in one game (without a little luck, of course), so don't be discouraged.

While most of these locations are self-explanatory, however, there a few players will have to track down:

  • Lake Canoe is located between Dirty Docks and Lazy Lake. It's just north of Retail Row.
  • 'Near Steamy Stacks' is referring to the body of water surrounding the area.
  • Flopper Pond is between Holly Hedges and Salty Towers.
  • Sharky Shell is the northernmost island in Coral Castle.

The only convoluted aspect of this challenge is the word 'or' in the first challenge and 'and' in the second. Players could assume blowing up 3 Fishing Holes in Flopper Pond will complete the first challenge. However, it's important to keep track of one's progress in-game. The second challenge clearly wants players to travel to all 3 locations and blow up a Fishing Hole.

Fortnite season 5 is doing a great job of rolling out content. Each week gives players new opportunities to earn XP and level up the battle pass. With so much more on the way, players are eager to see what else Fortnite has in store for them. There are already multiple theories in the air as to what's next.
