In a blast from the past, early 2000s series BloodRayne and other Majesco Games properties have been bought up by publisher Ziggurat Interactive, which will result in enhancements to current digital ports of those titles and, potentially, eventual sequels. If 2004's Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 can make its modern console return so many years after the fact, anything is certainly possible for the BloodRayne franchise and others.

Hailed as a cult classic of the sixth console generation, GameCube exclusive BloodRayne (developed by Terminal Reality and published by Majesco) turned heads on the Nintendo console with its sultry and deadly protagonist, Rayne, and themes of sex, violence, and the Occult. A hack and slash action-adventure romp typical of the era's limitations, BloodRayne was received well enough by critics and audiences to get a sequel in BloodRayne 2, as well as a box office bomb of a movie adaptation in the vein of the more successful Resident Evil films and a side-scroller spin-off for PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2011. Currently, players can find the series entries on the usual digital storefronts, but those imperfect ports are apparently about to get improvements.

In a press release, Ziggurat Interactive proudly proclaims that it has "purchased the rights to multiple game licenses previously owned by Majesco Entertainment," whose library most notably includes BloodRayne, as well as "Advent Rising, Raze’s Hell, and Flip’s Twisted World." Ziggurat says it is "already working with original BloodRayne developer, Terminal Reality" to hone the existing PC ports of the original two games on Steam to "improve compatibility and provide various enhancements." Giving players hope of a potential sequel or reboot for modern platforms, Ziggurat teases that it's wasting no time in looking for ways to "further explore and expand BloodRayne’s already rich universe."
