Netflix's Bloodline Ending After Season 3

Bloodline Season 2

Most of the news to come from Netflix has been adding more shows or renewing existing and popular shows such as DaredevilHouse of Cards and Stranger Things for additional seasons. Back in July, Netflix did the latter renewing Bloodline for a third season. After following the Rayburn family drama for two seasons, more problems presented themselves to keep the family's secrets under wraps. That has proved to be quite difficult for a family so well-known in Monroe County, Florida.

After another well-received season and an established and talented cast onboard, the future looked bright for the series as long as the story was there. Now, it appears the Rayburns' story will come to a close next year.

THR has revealed that season 3 of Bloodline will be its last. Although Netflix initially said this would not be the case upon renewal, the decision has been made to put an end to the series. Season 3 will feature only 10 episodes instead of the usual 13 for a Netflix series, but the reason for the cancellation has not been revealed. Initially, the producers had a 5-6 season story in mind, so it is possible that the series could live on with a different platform.

Bloodline Kyle Chandler and Linda Cardellini

Even though this is not the news that viewers of the show will like to hear, this could ultimately be the right move when everything is said and done. More often then not, television shows run longer than necessary, and the reveal that this could be the end of the series should allow for a definitive and clean ending. This gives Bloodline the opportunity to have a fleshed out story over 36 episodes that has a satisfactory ending to viewers.

The Rayburns can only come across so many problems and kill so many people only to cover it up before someone catches on. Kyle Chandler, Linda Cardellini, and Norbert Leo Butz should all be returning for the third and final season that follows the cliffhanger ending of season 2 (which we won't spoil here). Bloodline certainly seemed to be a series that could have lasted a few more seasons, but after two solid seasons, ending it while it still knows what it wants to be could be the right move. Then again, the season 3 finale could leave people wanting more and give Sony the chance to have the show picked up by another streaming service or network.

Seasons 1 and 2 of Bloodline are currently available on Netflix, with the third and final season coming out sometime in 2017.
