One dedicated modder has managed to breathe some life back into Bloodborne's cut Snake Ball boss, and the result is predictably terrifying. The 2015 PlayStation 4 exclusive has managed to maintain a strong playerbase over the years, and there are currently rumors that Bloodborne will finally get PC and PS5 ports soon.

Even though FromSoftware has released several well-received games since its smash hit for the PS4, Bloodborne has still managed to provide its fanbase with new content consistently and none of it has come from the developer... in a sense. Most of the "new" stuff is actually old, cut content buried deep within the game's files that dataminers and modders have tasked themselves with resurrecting. Arguably the most intriguing part of these discarded ideas are the cut Bloodborne bosses that were not quite up to FromSoftware's standards for whatever reason, and players can now experience small, impressive tastes of what could have been.

YouTuber Foxy Hooligans recently posted a battle between the good hunter and one of the discarded bosses, known as the Snake Ball. Those familiar with Bloodborne will know well the regular enemies found throughout the game that share a name and likeness with this unused creature, but what they may not know is that a boss version of the foe exists in the game's files. According to the YouTuber, the original code for the Snake Ball boss was very broken according and what's on display in the video below is the result of hours of work to make the fight functional. Foxy Hooligans also makes it clear, however, that there is still a lot left to be done.

Other modders before this have shed some light on the Snake Ball boss' data in Bloodborne's code, and it shows that there was not much there. Most of the animations and textures were at a very basic level, suggesting that the boss version of the Snake Ball did not make it very far into the production process. This is not the first time Foxy Hooligans has restored something like this, and it appears their work will continue for some time into the future.

Bloodborne's modding community has grown to a Skyrim-level of dedication, as players refuse to let it die and sometimes go to extreme measures to give it a new lease on life. It is no small feat what Foxy Hooligans pulled off in this boss restoration, and they should be commended for their work. This is another good example of fandom at its best, and its reassuring to see people so passionate about the games they love sharing their work with like-minded players.
