Thanks to modders, Bloodborne players can now access the fabled Great One Beast boss that languished in the game's cut content for years - until now. Bloodborne has earned its place among other beloved From Software titles for its strange lore, hauntingly detailed environments, and (in typical Soulsborne fashion) amazingly designed combat and unforgiving bosses.

Bloodborne has proven itself to be replete with various secrets, either within its Yharnam setting, the Old Hunters DLC, or in the many Chalice dungeons. Often, the game does little to nothing to directly guide players to their goals, and makes the various side-quests seem at first like random, one-off NPC encounters. Those that have played the game certainly know that these seemingly arbitrary conditions, items, or encounters - once truly delved into - do tremendous work in terms of further deepening the lore of the many entities and characters that inhabit this universe. But, where the rich lore and details dry up, many players have found ways to access files containing the cut content of Bloodborne, so as to gain more insight into what else may or may not be a part of Yharnam's rich world.

According to Eurogamer, the Great One Beast, initially discovered in the game's cut content back in 2018, is now an accessible boss after a modder named Foxy Hooligans worked tirelessly to recreate the boss model and move-set within Bloodborne proper. The boss itself looks easily recognizable as one of the beast-type enemies that populate the game, somewhat resembling other bosses such as the Cleric Beast, the Abhorrent Beast, and Laurence, the First Vicar. However, its glowing red eyes, flowing dark fur, and more quadrupedal posture definitely set it apart from other beast enemies.

Given the Great One title, as well as the boss's filename of "SilverBeast," this beast is more likely connected to the Silverbeasts that populate the Nightmare of Mensis and the Loran Chalice Dungeons, giving the Great One Beast a much more eldritch connection with the likes of the Moon Presence or Ebrietas. Early sightings of this boss showed themselves to be pretty underwhelming, with rough textures and non-rendered attacks, something totally understandable as one can't expect a cut boss fight to be as fully realized and developed as the many that made into the final product. However, this mod restores much of what could have been in the boss fight, and in Foxy Hooligans's words, "With this mod, you can fight this boss as the developers would have intended."

Unfortunately, not many Bloodborne fans will have the chance to fight this boss, as access requires not just the mod, but a significantly modded PS4 console. This level of modding may be a bridge too far for many players, but the actual content opens up many questions regarding what developers may have had in mind in terms of expanding the game's lore on the beast plague. Of course, this one bit of content is just a drop in the bucket, considering the trove of world- and plot-expanding information contained with the Bloodborne's files.
