Bling Empire's Kelly Mi Li recently shared a sweet Instagram post in honor of her boyfriend, Andrew Gray's birthday. The controversial couple seems to be going strong, despite a bumpy road along the way. On the show, viewers got a close-up look at the complex relationship that exists between Kelly and Andrew.
Andrew, an actor, is portrayed on the show as having a volatile personality and issues controlling his temper. While Andrew has claimed that this storyline was fabricated and exaggerated by producers, many fans felt strongly that his treatment of Kelly was toxic. Over the course of the season, Kelly and Andrew had an on-again, off-again relationship. Ultimately, Kelly told Andrew that they couldn't see each other, however, at the very end of the final episode, after attending a party thrown by Cherie, she knocked on his door looking like Cinderella escaping from the ball.
Following this cliffhanger, fans weren't sure whether Andrew and Kelly would be getting back together. It seems like they did, in fact, stay apart for a while. Nowadays though, they're definitely back together and according to social media at least, seem to be going strong. Yesterday, Kelly posted photos from the birthday celebration she organized for her beau.
In the post, Kelly refers to Andrew as, "my love" and says that she's "so grateful for [their] journey together." The weather looks perfect for the occasion, and the picnic set-up is definitely enviable too. This adorable way of celebrating wasn't the original plan though. Kelly admits that she had planned for a surprise golf getaway but had to switch things up when Andrew pulled his back. In the last picture of the post, Kelly and Andrew are bundled up in cozy clothes, and on either side of them are friends who seemed to join for the festivities.
Though the couple definitely looks to be happy, the comments section blew up with protestations from fans who want better for Kelly. "You can do so much better than that guy. Any scenes with him were hard to watch," said one Instagram user. "Oh, this is disappointing, you deserve so much better than him. You’re better than this," chimed in another. Some fans even went so far as to suggest that Kelly should've ended up with a different man.
Does Andrew deserve the benefit of the doubt, or are fans right to call Kelly out for deciding to get back with them? It'll definitely be interesting to keep tabs on how their relationship progresses. Even better would be a second season of Bling Empire to give us an inside look once again.
