When it comes to the storylines on Netflix's smash hit Bling Empire, certain trends emerge. There's the story of wealth (of course). The whole gang spends their money in eye-popping ways. Then there's the theme of identity. In particular, Kevin Kreider and Kim Lee go through very emotional journeys, discovering more about their pasts and how those pasts influence their lives today. However, the biggest theme in the series is the importance of family and the love between parents and children. This warmhearted aspect of the show surprises some fans. Explorations of the importance of family and the parent/child relationship aren't what reality TV fans typically expect when it comes to a reality show about the richest Asians and Asian-Americans in L.A. However, this is what makes Bling Empire so darn good. It's so much more than anyone expects.

Each cast member cherishes family. Kane was there for Cherie when she struggled with the pain of losing her mother just before giving birth to her second child. Kane and Kevin were there for Kim when she looked for her estranged father and made the tragic discovery that he died. Anna Shay, who is the mother of son Kenny, was there for Kelly Mi Li, playing a maternal role as Kelly struggled with her failing (and potentially emotionally abusive) relationship with the former red Power Ranger, Andrew Gray. The biggest storyline about family, however, belonged to Christine Chiu and her husband, Dr. Gabriel Chiu. They have an adorable child with the nickname, Baby G.

Christine Chiu really loves Baby G. For this little cutie's first birthday on June 29th, mama threw him a $1M birthday party at the brand new Cayton Children's Museum in Santa Monica. What did the $1M buy? An entire wing of the museum. It also provided free admission to the museum for underserved children, via the Chiu Fun-for-All fund. However, the donation wasn't the end of the extravagance. The party was mega. There was a claw-grabber machine full of Gucci bags, a custom-built roller coaster, a Ferris wheel, a private showing of Bob Baker's Marionettes, and many other live performances, according to Mommy in Los Angeles. Though the take-home party favors came in Gucci gift bags, the take-home message from Christine was even more valuable. In her speech to Baby G, the doting mother said, "We feel very blessed to be able to have this opportunity, to hopefully teach Baby G, at a very young age, the importance of giving back and the importance of sharing and the importance of equality."

The Chiu Family

Christine struggled to get pregnant. For anyone looking to have a child, the heartbreak of trying and trying to no avail is traumatic and overwhelming. Christine had an added burden... her in-laws. Her husband is a descendant of the esteemed Song Dynasty, and Christine felt an incredible amount of pressure to produce a male heir for her husband's family. For ten years, she felt like a failure. The truth was that Dr. Gabriel had fertility troubles of his own. According to the multifaceted Christine Chiu, he never really made that clear to his family, so she felt like the blame was entirely on her. They had Baby G through IVF, so it's no wonder they want to throw him the kinds of parties that have all the bells and whistles.

Carrying Baby G almost cost Christine her life and she was certain his parents would look down on the use of a surrogate for a possible baby #2. Christine confessed to Kevin that she simply doesn't want another child, but she adores Baby G. Christine and Gabriel are devoted parents to their little Bling Empire star.
