Warning: contains spoilers for Bleach

The Arrancar Szayelaporro Granz whom Captain Mayuri Kurotsuchi of the Twelfth Division killed in Bleach's main series just arose from the flames of hell in mangaka Tite Kubo's one-shot manga. His arrival also comes with a terrifying message that suggests the impossible about Sosuke Aizen. Before his death, Szayelaporro may have only played a small role in Bleach as Aizen's Octava Espada, but he left quite a large mark on Soul Society during this short amount of time, standing up against numerous Shinigami simultaneously through the utilization of unsettling techniques until Mayuri finally stepped in and sent him to hell.

Szayelaporro was essentially Bleach's version of a twisted Batman. So long as the powerful villain had time to research his enemies' abilities, the Arrancar could either render them ineffective or greatly reduce the inflicted damage. His offensive strategy was also quite terrifying as he essentially performed voodoo on his opponents, which proved quite effective against many of his opponents. Ironically, Szayelaporro's downfall would actually come as a result of his most prized and disturbing technique that should have prevented him from dying, but eventually culminated in his incredibly slow and agonizing death.

In Bleach's one-shot manga, Szayelaporro reappears for the first time since his death as the Jailer of Hell, following an ostensibly unsuccessful surprise attack led by strange Hollows. These beasts had originally ambushed a group of Assistant Captains, in addition to Ichigo and Renji, who had gathered together in preparation for a ritual known as Konso Reisai. Like his new title, Szayelaporro's appearance has also changed. The Arrancar was able to cast aside his Hollow yoke during his tenure in hell so his hole is no longer bound by his Hollow flesh.

Szayelaporro decides to grace his enemies with his hellish new form for a number of chilling reasons. In addition to attacking Renji's daughter, Ichika, and Ichigo, the fallen Arrancar performs a diabolical ceremony, damning a fallen Captain to hell through the unwitting support of the gathered Shinigami. He also imparts the unfortunate news that the maws of hell have opened whereby they can expect the likes of Aizen and Yhwach to wreak havoc on Soul Society once more.

Szayelaporro is still just as sadistically cruel and narcissistic as he was before his death, which he makes abundantly clear at numerous intervals of his confrontation. The Arrancar also proves he still has an affinity for adding theatrics to everything he does, a passion he is fortunate enough to indulge in when performing the aforementioned satanic-like ritual at the horror of his captivated audience. But Szayelaporro's comments during his theatrical display prove that he's not the only slain villain whom Soul Society can expect, such as Yhwach, the Father of the Quincy whose Reiatsu had apparently vanished according to Aizen in the original series. Szayelaporro's words suggest that Aizen somehow died as well despite being an immortal: "The powerful spiritual pressures that were holding the maw of hell shut...Sosuke Aizen and...Yhwach, have disappeared." Thanks to Szayelaporro's fragmented speech pattern, it's unclear if Aizen was behind the shut maw of hell before the spiritual pressures disappeared or not. But it certainly sounds as if this were the case. Whether Aizen died or not, Bleach's one-shot manga foretells impending doom for Soul Society and the world of the living.
