Tyrese Gibson sparks speculation he's joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Blade following a vague social media post. Marvel Studios announced plans to make a Blade movie in 2019 when Kevin Feige brought Mahershala Ali out on stage at San Diego Comic-Con. After a few years without many updates on the movie, there is finally starting to be movement. Blade is being written by Stacy Osei-Kuffour and directed by Bassam Tariq, with Marvel Studios reportedly planning to begin production later this year. As a result, Ali started to get some supporting cast members in recent months.

As it currently stands, there are only a handful of actors linked to appearances in the MCU's Blade movie. Da 5 Bloods star Delroy Lindo was the first actor to join the film in an undisclosed role, while Krypton's Aaron Pierre landed a secret coveted role in early 2022. There has been much speculation that Blade will also see Kit Harington return as Dane Whitman after Eternals' post-credits scene connected his future as Black Knight to Ali's character. However, Marvel needs much more than four actors to make the vampire hunter movie and now there's speculation a recent Marvel vampire movie star is set to appear.

Gibson is only a few weeks removed from appearing in Sony's Morbius, where he played FBI agent Simon Stroud, who hunted down Jared Leto's vampire. Now, the Morbius and Fast & Furious actor has sparked speculation he's going to be in Blade thanks to a vague Instagram post. He shared a selfie and an image of Blade with a caption that reads, "We on!!!!!!!!!!!!!" The confusing image has ignited rumors that Tyrese Gibson has joined the MCU's Blade movie in some capacity.

Gibson's Blade tease can be read in several different ways. Some have pointed out the similarities between Gibson's facial hair and how Blade looks in the selected comic panel, so the actor could think that is a fun coincidence. Others interpreted the photo as the actor campaigning to play Blade, even though Marvel Studios cast Ali in the role nearly three years ago. It's also odd that Gibson chose a panel where Blade says, "We've all got a whole lotta vampires to kill," as he could be hoping that Simon Stroud and Blade will crossover to fight vampires. After all, Gibson previously claimed Morbius was set in the MCU, so he might believe that this is a possibility.

If Gibson does have a role in Blade, it will likely be announced soon. This would likely come with a brand new role, since Simon Stroud and Morbius exist in a different universe. The lines between the MCU and Sony's Spider-Man Universe would continue to be blurred as a result, which is already happening as Kraven the Hunter uses several MCU actors in different roles. If there is no news on this front from here on out, then it will be safe to assume that Gibson isn't joining the MCU with Blade.
