Blade & Ghost Rider Have Teamed Up With Satan's Children

Johnny Blaze, the original Marvel Comics Ghost Rider, is back as part of the Marvel Legacy initiative - a plan to refocus Marvel Comics on its classic and core heroes and showcase the unique and exciting connections between them.

That's why Blaze is teaming up with some interesting company, including the vampire-hunting daywalker himself, Blade, and the children of Satan: Hellstorm and Satana. Together they form the Spirits of Vengeance, the new title by writer Victor Gischler, with art by David Baldeon, and covers by Mark Texeira.

Spirits of Vengeance #3 releases this week and we have an exclusive preview of the first six pages of the comic. In issue #2, Johnny Blaze and Hellstorm recruit Blade to their cause as they continue to investigate the strange silver bullet that brought demons to Blaze's personal space. The issue concludes with Hellstorm confronting his sister and fellow child of Satan, Satana, and showing her the bullet. They know exactly what it is so what happens next in the third chapter of the 5-issue miniseries?

And what happens to the precious balance between heaven and hell if demons find a way to kill immortal angels with a powerful new weapon forged from the silver of Judas himself? The next time The Covenant occurs - the meet-up between angels and demons every millennium - it might spell the end for one side.

A dead angel. A silver bullet. A kept promise. For ages, the war between Heaven and Hell raged in the unseen corners of society, both sides in delicate balance that could topple if the right weapons were in the wrong hands… When an undercover angel is murdered, Johnny Blaze, the Ghost Rider, must find the killers and punish them…But this time he won’t do it alone: A deadly team must rise from the darkest depths of the Marvel Universe to form an unholy alliance – HELLSTORM! SATANA! BLADE! They are the SPIRITS OF VENGEANCE!

New Ghost Rider, Robbie Reyes - who was featured in season 4 of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. on ABC - is still out there as well and recently acquired a certain familiar power which hinted at him taking up the mantle as the true Spirit of Vengeance. But Blaze is still out there doing his own thing, and when he turns the demon fires on, it's game over.

As for Blaze, he was hinted at in the TV series too and many fans remain hopeful that if Marvel TV keeps exploring new characters in their Netflix programming (like the recent hit, Punisher), that the next "Phase" of the programming could include series for Ghost Rider and Blade, among many others. Team-ups like this offer neat ways to make another Defenders-style team-up.
