The MCU may have introduced a key Blade hero before the debut of Mahershala Ali's Eric Brooks. The upcoming Blade movie has been delayed due to creative issues with the script. Nevertheless, the MCU continues to set the scene for Blade's introduction. After Blade's voice cameo in Eternals, Werewolf By Night officially introduced MCU vampires and monster hunters, along with one major character that may become relevant to Blade's MCU journey in the near future.

Werewolf By Night has crowned Elsa Bloodstone as the next wielder of the Bloodstone. With this supernatural gem, Elsa will continue her father's legacy, hunting all kinds of supernatural creatures, including sasquatches, mermaids, demons, and all those other monsters shown in Werewolf By Night to exist in the MCU. But it seems Elsa will have a more heroic take on the monster-hunter role than her father. She already spared Man-Thing and Jack Russell despite their monstrous forms - a path that may see put her skills to good use by only killing villainous monsters, a storyline which would make most sense to be explored side by side with Blade.

How The Bloodstones Could Fit Into The MCU's Blade Plans

Blade, Elsa Bloodstone, and Ulysses Bloodstone in the MCU

It's impossible to predict Blade's story while it's in early development, but the possibility of a team-up remains on the table. While Blade likely won't be a shared adventure in the vein of Thor: Ragnarok, it can take advantage of Eric Brooks' presence in the shared universe to feature various related characters, something that Wesley Snipes' Blade standalone trilogy couldn't do. Elsa Bloodstone could appear at any point in Blade and give Eric Brooks a hand in battle or aid by contextualizing the plot with the Bloodstone family's history of monster hunting.

There's also the possibility that Blade takes place in the past. In this case, Mahershala Ali's Eric Brooks could join paths with Elsa's father, Ulysses Bloodstone. Ulysses could have a bigger role without distracting too much from Blade's story, as it's already known that Ulysses eventually dies. Eric Brooks could be part of Ulysses Bloodstone's fabled battles, and together they could continue to develop the Bloodstone's history in the MCU.

Could Elsa Bloodstone & Blade Be Part Of Marvel's Midnight Sons?

Blade, Elsa Bloodstone, and the Midnight Sons

Once Blade establishes the MCU's Eric Brooks as a key character, the obvious option for a follow-up, apart from a direct sequel, is a darker version of the Avengers — the team-up movie Midnight Sons, where Blade could be the leader. A multitude of Marvel characters have gone through the ranks of the Midnight Sons in the comics, including some that have appeared in live-action Marvel shows and movies but not the MCU proper, such as Ghost Rider, Morbius, and Iron Fist.

Some realistic candidates for the MCU's Midnight Sons team are Moon Knight, Wong, Man-Thing, Werewolf by Night, Blade, and now Elsa Bloodstone. Blade is as necessary for the Midnight Sons as Iron Man was in the original Avengers, so his participation would be almost guaranteed. Elsa Bloodstone hasn't been a major member in the comics, but her skills, the possession of the Bloodstone, and her monster-hunting legacy in the MCU make her an ideal member. With the introduction of Werewolf by Night, Blade, and Elsa Bloodstone, the Midnight Sons are now more likely than ever.
