While at D23 Expo 2019, Marvel Studios reveals a new Black Widow white costume worn by Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson) in the upcoming MCU movie. Ever since her introduction in 2010's Iron Man 2, fans have been calling for Black Widow to get her own movie. Now 10 years later, Johansson will finally lead her own MCU movie with Black Widow, directed by Cate Shortland from a script by Jac Schaeffer. The Black Widow movie was confirmed at San Diego Comic-Con last month by Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige, and its May 2020 release date was officially announced.

Though it was only confirmed last month, Black Widow started filming earlier this year and fans have gotten glimpses of Johansson's movie through set photos. Recently, Black Widow set photos showed a new costume Johansson will sport in the movie. That one was gray with black accents. However, based on the Black Widow D23 footage details, Johansson's Natasha will have another new suit, this one in all white. Then, following the Walt Disney Studios panel at D23, where the Black Widow footage screened, Marvel Studios revealed the white costume to the public.

At the Marvel Studios booth on the show floor at D23 Expo 2019, the Black Widow white costume was unveiled on a mannequin. A video posted by ComicBook's Brandon Davis posted a video showing the costume from multiple angles, which can be viewed below; ComicBook also posted photos of the front and back of the costume. As seen in the video and photos, the suit appears to be an all-white spin on Natasha's basic jumpsuit, with black accessories including a belt, leg holsters, wrist gauntlets.

In the comics, Natasha sports an all-white costume with gold accents on the variant cover of Black Widow: Deadly Origin #2 written by Paul Cornell with art by John Paul Leon and Tom Raney. The four issue series was published 2009-2010 prior to Black Widow's introduction in Iron Man 2, and sees Natasha Romanoff/Natalia Romanova deal with skeletons from her past resurfacing - which is quite similar to what we know about the movie. In Black Widow, Nat will reunite with a fellow agent from the Black Widow program, Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), and confront her past.

It's expected the movie will also tie up all loose ends regarding Johansson's character, since Black Widow died in Avengers: Endgame. Fans are also hoping it will shed light on the references to her past, including her time in Budapest with Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) and her previous run-in with the Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), though neither Hawkeye nor Winter Soldier are confirmed to appear in the movie - yet.

As for the new Black Widow white costume, it's certainly striking, especially compared to Nat's typical black jumpsuits, and will no doubt make actions scenes more visually dynamic. However, it's unclear how much Johansson will wear the white suit in the movie. It was only featured briefly in the Black Widow D23 footage, and it's unclear if the scene was a flashback or not. Nevertheless, considering Black Widow maintained the same basic look throughout all her prior MCU appearances (with the exception of her ever-changing hairstyles), it will be cool to see Johansson sport more than one new costume in her solo movie. Hopefully fans will get a look at the new Black Widow white costume whenever the film's first trailer drops.
