The latest Black Widow promotional video celebrates the return of Marvel movies. The Marvel Cinematic Universe grew to become the biggest movie franchise of all time over the last decade, with Avengers: Endgame putting a record-setting stamp on a 22-film narrative revolving around the original six Avengers, Thanos, and Infinity Stones. When it came time to launch Phase 4 of the MCU, though, the original plan was for Scarlett Johansson to lead the way with the long-awaited solo Black Widow movie.

Marvel Studios confirmed plans for Black Widow to lead Phase 4 during San Diego Comic-Con 2019, where the movie received an official May 2020 release date. This changed dramatically once COVID-19 became a worldwide pandemic that shut down movie theaters. Marvel Studios removed Black Widow's May 2020 release date and eventually moved it to November 2020. That date didn't stick either, though, as Marvel moved it to May 2021 before one final Black Widow delay to July 2021. The reshuffling of Phase 4 has left fans with the longest gap between MCU movies ever, as it will be more than two years since Spider-Man: Far From Home hit theaters.
