MCU boss Kevin Feige is interested in seeing Falcon's Captain America take on Red Guardian sometime in the future. Going into Phase 4, the MCU is already looking drastically different than it did just two years ago. Several Phase 4 projects are poised to introduce the newest generation of heroes as the original Avengers take their victory laps and leave the franchise behind. For example, the Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier saw Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) finally accept Steve Rogers' (Chris Evans) shield and become Captain America. His journey is expected to continue in Captain America 4.

Meanwhile, the MCU's latest movie release, Black Widow, introduced some major new characters to the franchise, including David Harbour's Red Guardian. Once positioned as Russia's answer to Captain America, the Red Guardian of the movie spends much of his time dreaming about the glory days when he was a superhero. Throughout Black Widow's runtime, Red Guardian references a fight he once had with Captain America, though the timeline hardly seems to match up with Steve's time out of the ice.

Marvel mastermind Feige participated in a live-tweet party for Black Widow on Monday night, and he gave some insight into what he would like to see in the MCU going forward. Many fans have expressed interest in actually seeing Red Guardian fight Captain America, and one even asked Feige if there will ever be a chance for Sam's Cap to go toe-to-toe with Red Guardian. "I'd like to see that.. how about you guys?" Feige wrote. Based on the various reactions to his tweet, it's safe to say a lot of people are also interested in the idea.

As the MCU stands right now, Sam's iteration of Captain America is the only one Red Guardian could fight, unless the franchise wants to retcon the timeline they've established. It would be interesting to see the two characters appear onscreen together, particularly since they aren't quite as evenly matched as Steve and Red Guardian would be. Unlike the both of them, Sam doesn't have super-strength. However, he does have his wings and a Wakandan-made suit, so he isn't without his advantages.

Both Captain America and Red Guardian are poised to stick around in the MCU for a bit longer, though it remains to be seen where they could turn up next. For Sam, the in-development Captain America 4 is the most likely, and there's even a chance Red Guardian could appear there as well. Black Widow hasn't received a sequel just yet, but Feige has indicated there's more story to tell with the Russian hero. In other words, don't be surprised if these two end up clashing on the big screen.
