Mysterious bad guy Taskmaster and his army of Widows get new looks in the latest Black Widow trailer. After taking years to come together and being delayed multiple times by the coronavirus pandemic, Marvel Studios' Black Widow is just under two weeks away from release in theaters and on Disney+. Scarlett Johansson returns for what is likely her final MCU outing as Natasha Romanoff in a prequel set between Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War. With Natasha on the run following the fight over the Sokovia Accords, she returns to her assassin roots to finally destroy the Black Widow training program.

Though Natasha will have some allies in the form of her spy family, they'll all be facing formidable opponents. The most prominent is Taskmaster, a leader within the Red Room who has the ability to perfectly mimic someone's fighting style. Taskmaster has been front and center in several Black Widow promotional materials, yet his true identity remains a secret. Marvel has been tight-lipped about who is playing him, though fans have plenty of theories. The Black Widow trailers have confirmed Taskmaster will go up against Natasha and Alexei Shostakov (David Harbour) in some thrilling action scenes.

Marvel Entertainment has released a new promo for Black Widow, and it reveals more of Taskmaster and his Widows. Titled "Control," the trailer sees Natasha getting a full rundown on Taskmaster from Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh). Plus, there are new shots of the hand-to-hand fights the heroes will have with the masked villain. Check it out below.

Though Taskmaster so far appears to be Black Widow's primary antagonist, the Widows under his control are not to be underestimated. A recent Black Widow clip teased the Red Room agents' efforts to catch Natasha and Yelena, and it's clear they are not easy to evade. In other words, Natasha will have her work cut out for her in this new adventure. Making the entire conflict extra poignant is the knowledge that Natasha was once in these Widows' shoes; she understands what they're going through.

The MCU has a spotty track record with villains, but Taskmaster and the ruthless Widows could make quite an impact if their story proves to be as fascinating as it looks now. Audiences have been waiting a long time to see Natasha go up against them in Black Widow, and the wait is thankfully almost over. As the first movie in Marvel's Phase 4, there's a lot of anticipation riding on Black Widow; hopefully it will live up to all expectations when it arrives in July.
