A new action figure from the upcoming Marvel movie Black Widow reveals that the film's villain, Taskmaster, has Black Panther-like claws. Black Widow has been a long time in the making, as it's a movie fans have been hoping for since Natasha Romanoff's first appearance in Iron Man 2. Many assumed Black Widow would be the first female character to headline a MCU film on her own. However, that honor went to Captain Marvel, which saw Brie Larson take on the title role. Before her solo movie releases in May, Scarlett Johansson will have played Black Widow in seven different Marvel films, plus a mid-credits appearance in another.

One thing fans are particularly excited about in Black Widow is the movie's villain, Taskmaster. A favorite in the comics, he has the ability to mimic other superheroes' fighting styles, a skill that makes him a formidable adversary. There has been a lot of conversation about who might be playing Taskmaster, but as of now, the villain's identity is one of the movie's best kept secrets. Fans and Marvel experts have theorized everyone from Johansson as a Black Widow clone to Rachel Weisz’s Melina Vostokoff. Some have thought that set videos and other footage suggested Taskmaster may be played by a woman, due to the character's agile style.

Marvel fans have also been focused on Taskmaster's costume, which offers a different take than the comics. Footage so far has shown a mask that isn't quite as skull-like as the one the character wears in the comics. Taskmaster's trademark cape has also been missing. However, thanks to images of a new toy from Black Widow shared by Marvel Studios Director of Visual Development Andy Park, it seems Taskmaster is getting an upgrade in one way. One photo of the Taskmaster action figure shows retractable claws, similar to the ones that Black Panther has. Check out the photos, including one showing Taskmaster's claws, below.

Due to Natasha's sacrifice in Avengers: EndgameBlack Widow will be a prequel film, set after the events of Captain America: Civil War. However, viewers will also see a young Natasha Romanoff as well. There's been speculation that Robert Downey Jr. will return to the MCU for an appearance as Iron Man as well, though that's far from confirmed. Like Natasha, Tony Stark sacrificed himself to save the world in the final Avengers movie, making a potential scene between the two of them that much more powerful.

In the last several years, things like toys and concept art have provided valuable insight for upcoming movies, especially in the MCU. They're often a way for eagle-eyed fans to spot little things that a casual viewer might not know to look for. Park's assertion that the Taskmaster toy is "very film accurate" also seems like proof that the character will in fact have claws in the finished film. However, fans will have to wait until Black Widow releases in May to see them in action.
