Black Widow's international espionage mission really did take its cast and crew around the world. Natasha Romanoff's first solo movie features scenes filmed on location in Norway, England, Morocco and (of course) Budapest. Other scenes were shot in locations around Georgia, and sets like the maximum security prison and the new Red Room were built in Pinewood Studios in England, and Korda Studios in Hungary.

Directed by Cate Shortland and set in the aftermath of Captain America: Civil War, Black Widow finds Natasha Romanoff on the run from the authorities for her defiance of the Sokovia Accords. While trying to stay off the grid, she's reunited with her adoptive sister Yelena Belova, who reveals that Natasha's attempt to destroy the Red Room failed and little girls are still being trafficked into the Black Widow program. Determined to end General Dreykov's control over the Widows, Natasha and Yelena seek help from their adoptive parents, Alexei Shostakov and Melina Vostakoff, to take down the Red Room once and for all.

The hunt for Dreykov takes Yelena and Natasha all over the world, and the new Red Room is revealed to be in an entirely unexpected place. Here are all the key filming locations used for the Black Widow, and where they appear in the story.

Sound Stages: Pinewood Studios, England & Korda Studios, Hungary

The majority of Black Widow's interior scenes, as well as major sets like the maximum security prison and the Red Room, were filmed at Pinewood Studios, England. The production used Pinewood's four original stages - A, B, C, and D - as well as the Q stage (named after the James Bond character and opened by actor Ben Whishaw in 2013). Exterior sets were built on the Paddock Lot and the Tank. Before the Pinewood Group built a studio in Atlanta, Georgia (now called Trilith Studios), several Marvel Cinematic Universe movies were shot on stages at Pinewood and Shepperton Studios in London, including Captain America: The First Avenger and Guardians of the Galaxy. Black Widow's production also included some sets that were built on sound stages at Korda Studios in Hungary.

Natasha's Childhood: Georgia

Though Black Widow didn't use the Atlanta studio for its sound stages, it did film on location around Georgia. The opening sequence showing Natasha's childhood with her sleeper agent parents was shot in the neighborhood of Embry Hills, Chamblee, which serves as a stand-in for 1995 Ohio in the movie. After the family is forced to flee their home, their daring escape was shot in locations around Rome, Georgia, which was also the filming location for Black Widow's post-credits scene.

Airfield in Cuba: RAF Upper Heyford, England

After their chaotic flight from Ohio, the family arrives on an airfield in Cuba, where they are greeted by General Dreykov. Though the VFX backdrop of beaches and blue seas does a convincing job of making this look like the Caribbean, the scene was actually shot at RAF Upper Heyford in Oxfordshire, England. This former Royal Air Force base was also used as a filming location for Wonder Woman and World War Z.

Natasha In Hiding: Norway

After Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross is tricked into searching for Natasha on the wrong continent, Black Widow reveals that she's actually escaped to Norway. Later on in the MCU's timeline, the town of Tønsberg will become home to New Asgard after the original Asgard is destroyed. For the time being, though, Black Widow's only friend in Norway is her contact, Mason, who helpfully provides her with a safe house and aircrafts of varying quality. The shot of Nat on a ferry was filmed at the Hjørundfjorden, an idyllic 20-mile fjord, and scenes of her buying supplies were shot in the small town of Sæbø.

Yelena's Mission: Tangier, Morocco

Black Widow catches up with the now-adult Yelena Belova on a mission to hunt down one of her fellow Widows, who has freed herself from her chemical brainwashing and is on the run with an antidote that can liberate the other Widows. The dramatic chase scene across rooftops and down the sides of buildings was shot in the Mediterranean city of Tangier, Morocco. Christopher Nolan's mind-bending thriller Inception used Tangier as a stand-in for Mombasa, Kenya, and other major action movies filmed in the city include The Bourne Ultimatum, Spectre and The Living Daylights.

Yelena and Natasha's Reunion: Budapest, Hungary

The city of Budapest in Hungary has been a key part of Natasha Romanoff's backstory ever since The Avengers, when she and Hawkeye referenced a mission that sent them both there. Black Widow finally reveals what that mission was: Natasha's defection to S.H.I.E.L.D., which she cemented by helping to blow up Genereal Dreykov's offices and ending the Black Widow program (or so she thought). Natasha had a safe house in Budapest that is used by Yelena when she goes on the run, and it's at this safe house that the two sisters reunite. The subsequent chase scene across rooftops and on the back of a motorcycle was filmed on location in Budapest.

Natasha and Yelena Catch Up: Etyek, Hungary

After their narrow escape, Natasha and Yelena have 21 years of catching up to do. The scene in which they share beers and discuss both their past and their future was shot in Etyek, Hungary, a small town about 18 miles outside of Budapest. Etyek is also home to Korda Studios, where Black Widow built some of its sets.

The Helicopter Crash & Melina's Home: Surrey, England

After breaking Alexei Shostakov a.k.a. Red Guardian out of prison, Natasha and Yelena next go to search for their adoptive mother, Melina. Alexei is confident about their helicopter having enough fuel to reach Melina's home in St. Petersburg, Russia, but they end up having a rough landing when the helicopter runs dry short of their destination. The helicopter crash scene was filmed at Hankley Common in Surrey, England, and this is also where the exterior set of Melina's farmhouse was built. Black Widow's production ended up in trouble with Thursley Parish Council, who were not happy about filming going ahead before planning permission had been formally approved.

Post Credits Scene: Rome, Georgia

Black Widow starts in Georgia and ends in Georgia as well. The movie's post-credits scene, in which Yelena's visit to her sister's grave is rudely interrupted by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, was filmed at Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Rome, according to local reporting from Rome News-Tribune (via Atlas of Wonders).
