Marvel's Black Widow will contain 30 minutes of IMAX footage. As the first film on the MCU's Phase 4 slate, Black Widow was officially given a May release date last year at San Diego Comic-Con. However, the coronavirus pandemic later delayed the film to November, where it currently resides. These days, there is always a chance that movies will be delayed multiple times, but so far, Black Widow has held onto its fall date. Marvel is preparing for the upcoming release as well, as reports recently suggested another trailer will debut soon.

Black Widow is the long-awaited solo film for Scarlett Johansson's Natasha Romanoff. A prequel set in between Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity Warthis film will see Natasha revisit her Russian roots. This means she's headed back to the Red Room that trained her as an assassin, and this time, she wants to take it down. She'll be aided by her former family: Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), Alexei Shostakov (David Harbour), and Melina Vostokoff (Rachel Weisz). Opposing them is the Red Room's mysterious leader Taskmaster.

IMAX recently had an earnings call where they divulged some new information about upcoming releases. When it comes to Black Widow, it was revealed that the Marvel film will contain 30 minutes of IMAX footage, presented in expanded 1.90:1 (via Anton Volkov). Undoubtedly, this will be for some of the action scenes, several of which were already teased in the film's trailers.

Black Widow's action sequences promise to have an extra layer of intrigue thanks to Taskmaster, who has the ability to replicate anyone's fighting style. The trailers have already seen him adopting familiar moves from various Avengers, and it'll be thrilling to see him go toe-to-toe with Natasha. Plus, Taskmaster's identity has yet to be revealed, so many are curious to see who is behind the mask. There are plenty of theories, but nothing has been confirmed.

Fans have been waiting a long time to see Black Widow, and the promise of IMAX footage is bound to make things more exciting. Marvel films are certainly known for their action scenes, and Black Widow is expected to have some excellent ones. Right now, the hope is just that Black Widow won't get delayed again, though with movie theaters aiming to reopen by the end of August, it could be in the clear. Fans are excited to finally learn the truth behind Natasha's backstory, and this film holds an extra bit of emotion because it will likely be the last time Natasha appears in the MCU, thanks to her passing in Avengers: Endgame. Everyone's ready for Black Widow - she just needs to get here.
