Brand new Black Widow images tease Natasha Romanoff's (Scarlett Johansson) face-off with victims of the Red Room and offer another glimpse at her Russian family. Black Widow is the first film in the MCU's Phase Four and serves as Natasha's long-awaited solo film. A prequel set in between Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War, the film sees Natasha return to her roots as she seeks to dismantle the Red Room, the organization that trained her to be an assassin as a young girl. Doing so puts her back into the lives of her former family, made up of Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), Melina Vostokoff (Rachel Weisz), and Alexei Shostakov (David Harbour).

Black Widow's trailers have teased the Red Room and its trainees, things that have only been glimpsed at in one other Marvel film: Avengers: Age of UltronWhile Age of Ultron kept Natasha's backstory as a small side plot, Black Widow promises a deeper look into Natasha's past, as evidenced by rumors suggesting the film will include a younger Natasha. Much of Natasha's past is a mystery, and fans are eager to learn more about who she was before she became an Avenger. It's likely the answers they're seeking will come from the Red Room itself, which won't let Natasha go quietly.

In a new image shared by Empire, Natasha is shown preparing for a fight with what looks like an entire squad of Red Room agents. As explained by Yelena in the final Black Widow trailer, these women are "manipulated... fully conscious, but no choices." Natasha seeks to free them all, but it doesn't look like it will be an easy task. In the second image, Natasha stands with Alexei and Yelena, possibly preparing for the battle to come. You can check them out in the space below:

In an interview with Empire, Johansson explained she wanted to give Natasha justice. She said, "It gave us this feeling like, ‘I’ve got one chance and I really want people to understand her and to feel empathy for her,’ because often what you see is a very fetishised construct. We wanted to get under her skin." One person who might definitely get under her skin is Taskmaster, the masked leader of the Red Room who can mimic the fighting style of anyone he watches. Taskmaster's identity has yet to be revealed, though there are several theories fans have begun to consider. He will undoubtedly pose a major threat to Natasha, however, seeing as he's clearly studied her and the other Avengers.

As of right now, Black Widow is only a month and a half away, though concerns regarding the coronavirus outbreak could push the film back. Until that time, however, Black Widow is set for release on May 1. The film has set the stage for an interesting fight, as Natasha is one of the best assassins to emerge from the Red Room program and now she wants to tear it apart. That should make for a very compelling conflict, and fans cannot wait to see it unfold.
