A new Black Widow movie trailer has been rated and should be released soon. The first installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Phase 4 was supposed to come out a couple of months ago, kicking off the traditional summer movie season in May. However, due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, Disney had no choice but to delay the film's release, pushing it back to November. That had a domino effect on Marvel's complete upcoming slate, as they shuffled all their release dates around.

Since Black Widow was supposed to come out in the first half of 2020, Disney had already put together an extensive marketing campaign for the blockbuster. There have been a pair of Black Widow trailers, a Super Bowl TV spot, and a plethora of other materials released already. But because the movie is now scheduled to come out in the fall, it means the studio is going to have to put more advertising behind it. And it looks like another Black Widow trailer is on the way.

The British Board of Film Classification officially rated a new Black Widow trailer, one that clocks in at just over 2 1/2 minutes. No release date for the trailer has been revealed, but since the trailer's been approved, it's safe to assume it will be online in the not-too-distant future.

A logical venue for the trailer premiere would be the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con, which is staging a special at-home edition of the event later this month. Marvel Studios has yet to confirm they'll have a presence at the virtual convention, but it wouldn't come as a surprise if they did. Especially with DC saving their big announcements for August's DC FanDome, Comic-Con would be an opportunity for Marvel to showcase their upcoming projects without having to worry about sharing the spotlight. Not that the MCU is in any need of increased publicity, but they would be able to dominate the pop culture zeitgeist and get audiences excited for their new movies. It's plausible a Black Widow trailer could debut at Comic-Con and then be released online afterwards.

Whenever the new Black Widow trailer comes out, it will be interesting to see if it contains any new footage. On one hand, Marvel's already heavily promoted Black Widow and there's a limit to what they're willing to show months before release. That said, it'd arguably be somewhat disappointing if a "new" trailer at Comic-Con simply consisted of recycled shots viewers have already seen. Obviously, Marvel isn't going to feature any major plot spoilers in a trailer, but it'd probably be good if there was some new footage for audiences to check out as they wait to see Black Widow on the big screen.
