Black Panther: Wakanda Forever fans are sharing their hilarious reactions to learning that the MCU sequel may have digitally edited the appearance of a particular area of Namor's shorts. As a follow-up to 2018's Black Panther, the latest MCU entry sees the nation of Wakanda mourning the loss of King T'Challa (Chadwick Boseman) while also dealing with a new threat in the form of Namor (Tenoch Huerta). The film, which Ryan Coogler again directs, has earned mostly positive reviews from audiences and critics alike who praise its respectful treatment of Boseman's death, strong performances, and Huerta's nuanced antagonist.

After an eagle-eyed Twitter user by the name of @belovasoup noticed that the crotch area of Namor's shorts appeared to have been made less pronounced in the theatrical cut of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever compared to the trailers, MCU fans have taken to social media to share their hilarious reactions to the edit. While some users wholeheartedly call for Namor's anatomy to be restored to its natural state, others are raising interesting concerns over Marvel's allocation of VFX resources and the morality of digitally altering actors' bodies. Marvel's History Of Altering Actor's Bodies

Although the altering of Namor's shorts may exist on its own level since the effect is likely not intended to be noticed, Marvel is no stranger to digitally altering actors for various roles. One of the most notable examples involves Chris Evans in Captain America: The First Avenger. Before being pumped full of Super Soldier Serum, Evans' Steve Rogers was digitally manipulated to appear much smaller and less muscular. In addition to adjusting his body to look thin and somewhat weak, his entire face was also altered to match. While this transformation featured a lot of CGI adjustment, it was also accomplished using body doubles.

Similarly, several MCU movies have now featured de-aged versions of various actors. Robert Downey Jr. is de-aged for an opening scene in Captain America: Civil War. Still, the practice can be seen across several Marvel movies, either due to timeline requirements or flashback scenes. In Captain Marvel, for example, Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury was de-aged due to the film being set in 1995. Michael Douglas and Kurt Russell were also made to look younger for certain scenes in Ant-Man and the Wasp and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, respectively.

Outside of the Marvel franchise, there are other notable examples of actor's bodies being altered, with Henry Cavill's infamous Mission: Impossible – Fallout mustache having to be digitally removed from Justice League reshoots and Gal Gadot's baby bump similarly removed from her Wonder Woman reshoots. Marvel has not confirmed that any edits were done to Huerta's body, but it's likely that this practice happens more often than most fans realize. The side-by-side images suggest that some visual effects adjustments to Namor may have been made between the release of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever's trailers and the final theatrical release.
