Whoopi Goldberg requests for Disney theme parks to build a Black Panther Wakanda experience to honor Chadwick Boseman. This statement comes days after the news of Boseman's tragic death. As most Marvel fans know, Wakanda is a hidden country in Africa that has advanced weapons and technology in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Boseman recently passed after a 4-year battle with colon cancer. The actor rose to prominence for his work in biopics such as 42 and Get on Up, but he gained worldwide recognition for his work as T'Challa in Black Panther and a handful of other films in the MCU. Black Panther, which grossed a whopping $1.3 billion, was praised for not only bringing diversity to the MCU but for tackling themes of race and celebrating Black culture. In fact, Black Panther currently ranks in the top 20 highest-grossing films of all time, which has never been achieved by a film led by a predominantly black cast. Since his death, many have found ways to honor Boseman, and Goldberg has pitched an idea to Disney.

Goldberg took to social media to request that Disney build a Wakanda experience in both Disney World and Disneyland. This would not only recognize Boseman but also the significance of Black Panther in Black communities. Goldberg's original tweet can be read below:

In Goldberg's tweet, she mentions that Disney Parks could do without another Frozen attraction, which is a fair point to make. Disney has made progress in recent years when it comes to diversity, but for decades, the company had focused on white characters. In fact, they didn't introduce a Black Disney princess until Princess and the Frog came out in 2009. For many members of the Black community, Black Panther was their first experience seeing themselves properly represented in a project of this scale, so bringing that experience to Disney Parks would likely be just as appreciated.

Goldberg's statement follows the recent opening of some Disney Parks around the world. Building a Wakanda experience could certainly be an interesting idea given the visually stunning landscapes shown in the film. However, should Disney decide to make this idea a reality, it will be sometime before construction would commence. It was reported in March that Disney was losing $20 million a day by having their theme parks closed due to the Coronavirus, so they will likely be hesitant to build a huge expansion to one of their parks. That being said, Marvel fans would love the opportunity to be immersed in Black Panther's Wakanda, and building this attraction would be a great way to honor Boseman.
