A War is Coming in New Black Panther Trailer

Marvel released a new sneak peek for Black Panther during this year's College Football Playoff National Championship. In 2018, Marvel Studios will officially mark 10 years of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the studio is kicking off their milestone year with the highly anticipated Black Panther. Directed and co-written by Ryan Coogler, Black Panther is the official solo debut of Chadwick Boseman's T'Challa - who first appeared in 2016's Captain America: Civil War. His arc in the previous Marvel Studios movie saw T'Challa become king of Wakanda after the death of his father.

The film ended with T'Challa hiding Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) and Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) in his remote, but technologically advanced kingdom. While fans got a glimpse at Wakanda covered in fog, they'll now get a chance to truly dive into the world of Black Panther with Coogler's movie. Since Black Panther is set to premiere in little more than a month, Marvel is mounting its final promotional push for the film. Part of that push arrived tonight during the College Football Playoff National Championship, when Marvel debuted a new sneak peek for the movie.

Marvel first hyped the Black Panther sneak peek last week, promising new footage from the upcoming MCU installment would arrive during the game tonight on ESPN. After a performance from Kendrick Lamar, who's producing Black Panther: The Album, Marvel unveiled a new look at Coogler's film, which you can check out above.

In addition to Boseman, Black Panther features an incredibly talented ensemble cast, including Michael B. Jordan as Erik Killmonger, Danai Gurira as head of the Dora Milaje Okoye, Letitia Wright as T’Challa’s sister Shuri, Lupita Nyong’o as Dora Milaje soldier Nakia, Daniel Kaluuya as T’Challa’s friend W’Kabi, Winston Duke as M’Baku, Forest Whitaker as Wakandan statesman Zuri, and Angela Bassett as Queen Mother of Wakanda Ramonda. The film also features the return of MCU actors Martin Freeman as Everett K. Ross and Andy Serkis as Ulysses Klaue. Much of the cast can be glimpsed in this latest sneak peek at Marvel's upcoming film, which additionally hypes the annoucement that Black Panther tickets have gone on sale.

Still, a great deal of the footage in this trailer - or extended TV spot - has been seen in previous Black Panther trailers. However, we do get to see a bit more of Jordan's Killmonger, who is set to be one of the main villains of the film alongside Serkis' Klaue. The latter has been a known antagonist to the nation of Wakanda within the continuity of the MCU, while Killmonger will undoubtedly prove to be a threat much closer to home for T'Challa. Of course, with Black Panther set to release so soon, it's likely Marvel isn't trying to reveal too much in trailers, which explains why much of the footage in this sneak peak isn't new.

With that said, this latest Black Panther sneak peek does continue to get fans hyped for the upcoming Marvel movie. Black Panther is already the most anticipated superhero of 2018, but trailers like this one will keep that buzz going until the movie officially hits theaters next month.
