There's a good reason Black Panther is an A-list character in Marvel Comics. He's a king that has the power and knowledge of numerous past generations who is respected by his people and fellow superheroes. Black Panther has pulled off nearly impossible feats and once achieved a form so powerful that one could argue he is capable of transcending his human status and rising to the level of a top tier Marvel god.

Back during 2015, Black Panther and Doctor Doom duked it out in a battle for the fate of reality in Secret Wars, the inspiration behind the MCU's multiverse story. Black Panther wielded an Infinity Gauntlet, while Doom, titled God Emperor Doom at this point, wielded the power of the Beyonder. At the peak of the battle, T'Challa took on a form resembling a giant panther, the same form Bast manifests when communing with her worshippers in Wakanda, and landed a critical hit on Doom.

Although T'Challa ultimately lost the battle in Secret Wars #9 by Jonathan Hickman and Esad Ribić, the fact that he refashioned himself in the shape of his god is telling of how deep his ambition runs. And this is reflected in everything that T'Challa has accomplished in his time, way more than any other Black Panther. For starters, he's one of just a handful of heroes that remembers the death of the multiverse and lived to tell the tale after Secret Wars. Before his showdown with Doom, T'Challa used secret superpowers to raise an army of the dead. And while most Black Panthers confined themselves to the borders of Wakanda, T'Challa brought the power of Wakanda to the rest of the world and even established an intergalactic empire.

These accomplishments coupled with Black Panther's spirit panther transformation suggest that T'Challa is on a path different from any of Marvel's other heroes. Many heroes can take credit for pulling impossible stunts that have saved the Earth, galaxy, and/or universe, but given T'Challa's feats, it seems he is in a class above his fellow heroes, capable of not just transcending his kingship, but his humanity as well. Black Panther once confronted and defied Bast, implying that his ambition is even beyond her.

For T'Challa to reshape himself after his god during the battle for reality speaks volumes as to what he is capable of. At the rate Black Panther is going, he's on the track to replacing Bast and becoming Wakanda's and Marvel's next guardian deity.
