Marvel's Black Panther has access to some of the best tech on the planet, thanks to Wakanda's innovation and access to Vibranium. However, while many fans of the character know him for his powerful armor and sharp claws, T'Challa actually once had his own gauntlet that shares the name with a silly Nintendo accessory: The Power Glove.

In Black Panther #45 by Christopher Priest, Sal Velluto, Bob Almond, Paul Tutrone, and Jennifer Schellinger, a version of T'Challa from the future ended up in the main timeline via King Solomon's Frogs. This leads the future T'Challa to suit up in the current Black Panther's suit, as he fights against the evil XCon's organization's Iron Man (the future Tony Stark) in stealth armor - which was one of the strongest suits ever built. The armor was impervious to Black Panther's Vibranium claws, has night vision, and was fitted with some incredibly strong material making it extremely powerful. The armor had no metal, as it was made of a plastic-like substance. It was designed specifically to fight Black Panther.

The stealth armored Iron Man starts the fight well, as it appears he's going to take down T'Challa. However, Black Panther damages the vents on Iron Man's armor and uses his plasma discharge against him. Black Panther then uses Dr. Clean (yes, a cleaning product) as an Ammonia-based compound that interferes with Iron Man's cloaking abilities. That's when Black Panther equips a Jack Kirby-esque gauntlet and delivers a mean hook to evil Iron Man.

Black Panther power glove

While Iron Man manages to recover from the Power Glove - which only proves temporarily effective. Black Panther tries a new tactic, attaching a cryptograph to Iron Man's armor as the pair is high in the sky. The device disables Iron Man's ability to fly, and the evil Tony Stark falls from the sky directly into the white house, leading to a massive explosion.

This particular arc is incredibly convoluted, but Priest made it work by reaching back into Marvel's past and using Kirby's influence to tell a complicated time-travel story. The Power Glove's design is straight-up Kirby, as Velluto homaged the legendary artist with the powerful glove. It looks cool but isn't that useful given its grandiose introduction and appearance. While it didn't singlehandedly lead to evil Iron Man's defeat, without the gauntlet, Black Panther loses the overall fight. So what happened to the gauntlet? The Power Glove doesn't seem to have reappeared in the pages of Marvel Comics. Naturally, the MCU never used the glove largely because they had no reason too - fans weren't clamoring to see it. Maybe, it's because Nintendo had something to say about it? Although, it's more likely it just faded into obscurity.
