Check out Black Panther’s Post-Credits Scenes Explained.

Black Panther is confirmed to have two credits scenes like most Marvel Studios films, but is the post-credits scene worth waiting for? We offer a spoiler-free answer to whether fans need to stick around through the credits for the button scene.

Mid-credits and post-credits scenes have become a staple included with each Marvel Studios movie as part of their larger Marvel Cinematic Universe. The MCU was launched a decade ago this year with Iron Man, which featured a post-credits scene starring Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark and Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury that set up the eventual uniting of superheroes in The Avengers. Now, Black Panther is confirmed to have two post-credits scenes, one appearing in the mid-credits slot, and one following the full credits. But, are both button scenes worth sticking around for?

While moviegoers can always watch the credits to appreciate who was responsible for bringing a project to life, Marvel fans should definitely watch both Black Panther credits scenes. The two button scenes include important world-building information that tease the story of the MCU going forward, both in terms of the next film on the slate, Avengers: Infinity War, and the potential Black Panther sequel.

Marvel fans likely know by now, 10 years into the MCU, that sticking around for the post-credits scenes is part of the experience. However, the scenes don't always include teases for upcoming universe installments. Perhaps the biggest example of this was last year's Spider-Man: Homecoming, which featured a Captain America post-credits scene that largely made fun of those who wait through the credits for a button scene. While many fans undoubtedly appreciated the meta humor of the scene, styled as outtakes from the Captain America PSAs sprinkled throughout Homecoming, those who wanted a concrete tease for an upcoming film were undoubtedly disappointed.

Marvel has taken to including the big teases for future movies in their mid-credits scene, leaving the post-credits slot for a more humorous scene. This was the case with Thor: Ragnarok, which featured a mid-credits scene directly setting up Avengers: Infinity War with the appearance of a spaceship belonging to Thanos (Josh Brolin) and his Black Order. Then, the Thor: Ragnarok post-credits scene focused on The Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum), who was trapped on Sakaar with his angy former-subjects in a hilarious sequence.

However, that's not the case with Black Panther, which goes the route of including two credits scenes that feature major teases for upcoming entries in the MCU. Certainly, since it's the final MCU installment to precede the release of Avengers: Infinity War, that's to be expected - and fans won't be disappointed. So Marvel fans should definitely stick around through the very end of Black Panther for both the mid- and post-credits button scenes.
