Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Black Panther #11

In the latest issue of Marvel Comics' Black Panther, the former King of Wakanda experiences a major twist, resulting in a choice T'Challa will have to make with some big consequences. Despite giving up his crown following an attempted coup and Wakanda's transition to democracy, Black Panther is still a hero and chairperson of the Avengers. However, the rise of a new organization in the Marvel Universe may convince T'Challa to leave Earth's Mightiest Heroes behind.

Previously in Black Panther, T'Challa gave up his title as King of Wakanda after his secret sleeper program was exposed via the murder of his best friend Jhai (one of his sleeper agents). The resulting military coup that followed forced T'Challa to give up his crown in the name of restoring Wakanda's parliamentary democracy, leaving his nation in exile. Knowing full well that he had lost the trust of his own people due to his secrets and lies, T'Challa has been focusing his efforts on leading the Avengers instead.

Now, the new Black Panther #11 from John Ridley and Germán Peralta sees T'Challa and the Avengers reckoning with a new group of idealists who forcibly took control of major data centers, demanding that the world live free and in peace...or else. While the U.S government saw this as an act of terrorism, the new organization merely defended itself, taking no prisoners and allowing any forces sent against them to leave without harm. They also had perfect counters for the Avengers as well. Understanding that this group likely has a bigger agenda beyond world peace, Black Panther and Shuri start recognizing that their use of Wakandan stealth and technology. Combined with an invitation to meet with the group's commander, T'Challa wrongly believes Wakanda's new Prime Minister Folasade is behind this new organization and the recent coup. However, he couldn't be more wrong.

Will Black Panther Leave The Avengers For A Brand New Cause?

Jhai Lives in Marvel Comics' Black Panther

To T'Challa's extreme surprise, his best friend Jhai is still alive and revealed to be the commander of this new group. Jhai also claims all their efforts have been in T'Challa's name in the hopes of building a true world of peace just like Black Panther always wanted. Still seeing T'Challa as his king, it looks as though Jhai's entire organization will now be his to command. The question remains, what will Black Panther do with this new group now that he has it?

It's no secret that Black Panther has been incredibly aimless since losing his crown. As he reveals to Shuri in this new issue, it's hard to fight when he feels as though there's nothing to fight for. As such, it wouldn't be much of a stretch to imagine Black Panther leaving the Avengers behind for a new cause, joining Jhai and seeking to achieve world peace using some pretty bold methods. Black Panther #11 is on sale now.
