The Disney+ version of Black Panther now includes a special tribute to star Chadwick Boseman. It's only been a few months since the shocking news of Chadwick Boseman's death. The passing of one of Hollywood's rising stars and a great role model took the world by surprise, as Boseman's four-year long secret battle with colon cancer came to an end. In that same amount of time, Boseman became one of the faces of the Marvel Cinematic Universe thanks to his portrayal of T'Challa in four films.

People all over the world continue to mourn the loss of Boseman but there has also been a celebration of the man he was and the impact he made. This led to several different types of tributes. ABC aired a special tribute to Boseman just a few days after his death that featured MCU stars, athletes, and other pop culture figures discussing his lasting legacy. Marvel Comics put special art on all of their new comics to remember him, while Downtown Disney put up a massive Boseman mural. Recently, the release of Spider-Man: Miles Morales even included a tribute to Boseman.

Today would've been Chadwick Boseman's 44th birthday, and Disney has now rolled out the latest tribute to Boseman. Former CEO Bob Iger teased on Twitter that Disney+ would soon receive a special tribute in Boseman's honor and it has now been revealed in the form of a new opening for Black Panther. The version of Black Panther available on Disney+ has removed the usual Marvel Studios fanfare and updated it to only include Chadwick Boseman. Check it out below or watch it with Black Panther on Disney+:

The special Chadwick Boseman-focused opening is similar to what Marvel Studios did on their first films following the passing of Stan Lee. Even though Boseman had a great career playing Black icons outside of the MCU, this tribute solely focused on his incredible performances as T'Challa. Scenes from Captain America: Civil WarBlack PantherAvengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame can be seen, as well as some behind-the-scenes footage of Boseman on set.

This touching tribute is an excellent way for Marvel Studios and Disney to continue honoring Chadwick Boseman, so hopefully this is a permanent update for Black Panther. If the new opening isn't temporary, it could eventually be added to re-releases of the film for theaters or new versions of home video releases. Now that this opening has been revealed, it would also be quite surprising if Black Panther 2 doesn't begin with a similar tribute to Boseman. Even though Boseman is gone, there is no chance that his work and legacy will ever be forgotten.
