Black Panther star Daniel Kaluuya reacts to the recent Black Panther: Wakanda Forever trailer. Directed by Ryan Coogler and led by Chadwick Boseman, Black Panther broke numerous records with its impressive 2018 theatrical release. Many were therefore delighted when it was confirmed that Black Panther would receive a well-deserved sequel, with Black Panther 2 now set to wrap up the MCU's Phase 4 when it releases later this year.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will be a tribute to Boseman, who tragically passed away in 2020, with much of the film's principal cast set to return. Letitia Wright, Angela Bassett, Lupita Nyong'o, Danai Gurira, and Winston Duke will all reprise their roles, with Tenoch Huerta also set to make his MCU debut as Namor. San Diego Comic-Con 2022 saw the much-anticipated release of the trailer for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which offered some breathtaking visuals, as well as a small tease as to who will now take on the Black Panther mantle. Now, Kaluuya has shared his thoughts on the new Black Panther: Wakanda Forever trailer, after it was revealed that he will not be returning for the sequel.

Of course, I’ve seen it! It’s amazing.

It’s what’s best for the story, what’s best for the film. I’m excited for it. I’m excited to watch it.

Many were disappointed at the news that Kaluuya would not reprise his role as W'Kabi in Black Panther 2, after it was revealed that scheduling conflicts with another project had, unfortunately, prevented the actor from doing so. The project in question saw Kaluuya return to screens earlier this summer, as he partnered up with Jordan Peele once again for the director's newest horror, Nope. Kaluuya is set to be a notable absence from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and it is not yet known whether audiences will see Kaluuya reprise his role in the MCU at a further point in the future, though many are hoping to see W'Kabi return in some capacity.

Kaluuya's heartwarming reaction to the Black Panther 2 trailer is not surprising as the actor has always spoken incredibly positively about his experiences in creating the first Black Panther. While it's certainly a shame that Kaluuya will not have any involvement with this newest installment, it's clear to see that the star is looking forward to enjoying the film alongside audiences. For now, there are still a few months to go until viewers learn what Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has in store.
