A digital artist created a stunning Black Panther 2 fan poster, imagining Luke Evans as famous Marvel comic book character, Namor the Sub-Mariner. The first Black Panther film proved to be a massive success for Marvel Studios following its debut in 2018, earning over $1.3 billion at the box office and even an Oscar nomination for Best Picture. As a fan-favorite of the MCU, it came as no surprise when Marvel officially announced a sequel in 2019.

The long-awaited follow up film, titled Black Panther 2: Wakanda Forever, is slotted to hit theaters in July 2022. Returning writer and director, Ryan Coogler, has provided little to no story details, making the next installment of the Black Panther films even more unclear following the passing of Chadwick Boseman. Marvel Studios President, Kevin Feige, confirmed that the role of T'Challa would not be recast in honor of Boseman. However, the majority of the remaining cast, including Letitia Wright (Shuri) and Winston Duke (M'Baku), are reprising their roles for the sequel. Black Panther 2 will continue to explore the world of Wakanda and plans to introduce a new cast of exciting characters to the MCU, allegedly including popular comic book character, Namor the Sub-Mariner.

Digital creator, @mizuri, already has his pick for who will portray Namor in the MCU. In a fan poster for Black Panther 2 posted on Instagram, actor Luke Evans is imagined as the aquatic antihero. Mizuri's captioned on the post explains that amidst recent casting rumors, he has had Evans in mind for some time now. Check out the fan poster below:

Luke Evans, known for his performances in Clash of the Titans (2010) and The Hobbit, is already under Disney's radar after starring as Gaston in the 2017 live-action remake of Beauty and the Beast. However, reports claim that Narcos: Mexico star, Tenoch Huerta, will portray Namor in the upcoming Black Panther 2. Regardless of who plays the character, MCU fans speculate that Namor will serve as the movie's villain. Namor, the mutant King of Atlantis, has been a significant character throughout Marvel comic history, interacting with popular heroes such as the Avengers and the X-Men.

It remains unclear how Namor will be integrated into the MCU, but fans of the comic books have a few ideas. Some believe that the Atlantean King will wage a war on Wakanda. Others believe that perhaps, Black Panther 2 will lead the way for the introduction of new superteams like the Illuminati. In the comics, Namor has some experience fighting alongside the Avengers. Often referred to as the first antihero, Namor refused to join the original Avengers when offered a spot in 1965, preferring to continue his antics as both hero and antagonist to various Marvel characters. Whether Namor the Sub-Mariner is going to play a hero or a villain in Black Panther 2 remains uncertain. But after subtle Easter eggs and references were spotted in recent Marvel movies like Avengers: Endgame, one thing is for sure: the MCU is ready to dive into the world of Atlantis.
