Michael B. Jordan is always willing to return to the MCU for Black Panther 2. The actor joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2018's Black Panther, playing villain Erik "Killmonger" Stevens, a black ops mercenary with ties to Wakanda's royal family. Despite being the bad guy, audiences responded favorably to Killmonger, with many deeming him to be one of the very best MCU villains yet. That's why many were disappointed when he died at the end of the film. Though Jordan will be heard voicing Killmonger in the animated series What If...?, there are no official plans to bring him back in live-action form.

Currently, a great deal of Black Panther 2 remains a mystery. The passing of star Chadwick Boseman in August last year left fans and co-stars reeling, and Marvel has been taking time to determine how to best proceed with Black Panther 2. The only thing that is clear right now is Boseman won't be recast or recreated with CGI. Beyond that, Black Panther 2 remains scheduled for release in July 2022, and much of the supporting cast from the original film are expected to return.

Whether this includes Jordan remains to be seen, but for his part, he would be happy to return. Jordan spoke to PEOPLE recently and admitted he would happily revisit Killmonger and the world of Wakanda in any capacity. Though Jordan acknowledged the way Boseman's loss is affecting those who worked on the film, he stated he would be happy to return to the "family" they created. Jordan said:

"That's something that is very, very near and dear to my heart for a lot of obvious reasons. [I] had a really tough year losing somebody close to me. And what that means for that franchise is it was devastating. But being in that world in a character that I loved playing, and working with [writer/director Ryan Coogler] and all that good stuff, it's family. We created a family over there. So to be able to be in that world again is something that, I think, will always be on the table in some capacity."

Killmonger enters the thrones room in Black Panther

Even before Black Panther 2 was officially announced, fans were looking for ways to bring back Killmonger. Dead rarely means dead for good in the MCU, and the technology Wakanda has at its fingertips could easily come up with something to revive the fallen onetime king. Killmonger's death in Black Panther was truly impactful, and any potential return would have to avoid diminishing that. It's safe to say a lot of people are interested in seeing Jordan's face in the MCU again, and Jordan himself is interested in the idea. Perhaps Marvel and Black Panther 2 writer-director Ryan Coogler should take that into account.

Even if Killmonger doesn't get resurrected, he could very well appear for a flashback or dream sequence. T'Challa was able to speak to his father in the ancestral plane in Black Panther; perhaps someone could do the same with Killmonger in the sequel? The possibilities are endless, especially since little is known about Black Panther 2's plot right now. There are a lot of things Black Panther 2 needs to work out before it can decide whether to revisit Killmonger, so fans will have to wait and see if a reprise for Jordan is in the cards.
