A new fan poster for Black Panther 2 shows the emergence of Doctor Doom to the MCU. T'Challa was first introduced in Captain America: Civil War in 2016, before getting his own solo movie two years later. Upon its release, the Ryan Coogler directed film began to get rave reviews and break box office records, with Black Panther currently sitting in the top 5 for highest-grossing MCU movies. With the overall success of the solo movie, the King of Wakanda was bound to get a sequel.

Coogler was confirmed to return to write and direct the sequel in October 2018, and at last year's SDCC, Black Panther 2 was officially announced. As with most Marvel movies in early development, not a lot is known about Black Panther 2. The core cast members of the first film will be returning for the sequel, but the plot is being kept under wraps. Erik Killmonger was killed at the end of Black Panther, meaning the sequel will need a new villain to take on T'Challa. Many people think that villain could be none other than Doctor Doom.

A new Black Panther 2 fan poster from psychoboz introduces Doctor Doom to the MCU. The stylized poster shows the returning characters Nakia (Lupita Nyong'o), Okoye (Danai Gurira), Shuri (Letitia Wright), and M'Baku (Winston Duke), while of course bringing back Boseman in the lead role. While Doctor Doom looms in the background, this fan poster also supports the theory that Killmonger could return for the sequel. The artist's original Instagram post can be seen below:

While it would be interesting to see Killmonger return for the sequel, it's unlikely that Marvel would make him the main villain again. With Thanos dead in the MCU, Marvel needs to introduce a new big bad for the Avengers to continue fighting in future Phases. There are numerous theories as to who this could be, but a popular fan theory is that Doctor Doom will be the main antagonist for the next several years. This seems like a logical choice since Marvel is also developing a new Fantastic Four movie, and fans have yet to see a decent version of Doom on the big screen. There's no telling when the Fantastic Four will join the MCU, but when they eventually do, fans are going to want to see them fight their arch-nemesis.

Introducing the Fantastic Four is still probably a few years down the road, which makes introducing Doctor Doom in Black Panther 2 a perfect choice. Despite Disney constantly having to reshuffle the MCU release dates due to the Coronavirus pandemic, Black Panther 2 is still expected to hit theaters in 2022. That would give Marvel six movies to tease Doctor Doom before making him the next big villain. Almost everything about Black Panther 2 is pure speculation at this point, but it's fair to say that fans would be thrilled to see Victor von Doom be the main focus of the Black Panther sequel.
