Ahead of the release of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever next month, new character posters reveal a dramatic look at 12 MCU characters from the film. After the massive success of 2018's Black Panther, director Ryan Coogler returns to direct the film's sequel, which is set to conclude MCU Phase 4. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is expected to follow the nation of Wakanda as it mourns the loss of Chadwick Boseman's King T'Challa while also contending with new powers on the world stage. Boseman, who played T'Challa in the first Black Panther and several Avengers team-up movies, tragically passed away in 2020, but the upcoming film will see another character take up the mantle of Wakanda's iconic hero.

Many characters that were introduced in the first Black Panther will return in Coogler's sequel, including Shuri (Letitia Wright), Nakia (Lupita Nyong'o), Ramonda (Angela Bassett), M'Baku (Winston Duke), Okoye (Danai Gurira), and Everett Ross (Martin Freeman). In addition to these returning characters, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is also slated to introduce some fresh faces, including Namor (Tenoch Huerta), who will seemingly be the film's antagonist, and Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne), who will become Ironheart, Iron Man's successor.

Why Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Is The Perfect Ending To Phase 4

In many ways, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is in a similar position to 2012's The Avengers. That movie closed out MCU Phase 1, which was the first of three phases comprising the Infinity Saga. Phase 4, which Black Panther: Wakanda Forever concludes, is similarly the first of three MCU phases comprising the Multiverse Saga. Like The Avengers, then, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has the difficult job of feeling both like a dramatic culmination of events, and also the start of a larger story.

Although Black Panther: Wakanda Forever trailers have basically affirmed it won't be a big team-up movie like The Avengers was, the film certainly does seem to be paving the way for the future. In addition to saying goodbye to T'Challa, a former Avenger, the sequel is also introducing a new Black Panther, who will surely play a significant role in MCU events moving forward. Not only that, but newcomers like Ironheart and Namor could also be major players throughout the rest of the Multiverse Saga. While many questions remain about Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, the film is certainly shaping up to be an exciting, dramatic, and emotional conclusion to Phase 4 of the MCU.
