A new map is coming to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War with the start of the next season. In an interesting twist, it appears this new map will combine three classic franchise maps. A new leak indicates that the Black Ops Cold War map will combine not only a Black Ops legacy map but also two maps from the original Modern Warfare trilogy.

Last month, Black Ops Cold War got a new zombies mode that takes the undead into a more open-world map. It has shown that the game has an incredible level of support without costing players any additional money. With Warzone continuing to provide value to Call of Duty, there's really no better time to be a fan of the series.

According to WarzoneNewz (via GameRant), the new Black Ops Cold War map, reportedly called Echelon, will be a bit of a hybrid between several iconic Call of Duty maps like Modern Warfare 2's Highrise, Modern Warfare 3's Domeand Black Ops 2's Vertigo. Despite sharing a lot of similarities to these three maps, Echelon won't be a big massive map. It'll still house standard 6v6 matches, so don't expect large-scale chaos for the next season of Black Ops Cold War. Echelon has reportedly been held back from release since Black Ops Cold War launched back in November, though it's unclear why Treyarch held it. Perhaps whatever map was actually planned for season 3 got canceled or needed to be reworked, so they are replacing it with something that was already ready to go.

Whether or not Echelon will be a direct remake of these three maps combined into one or if it's simply just sharing a lot of similarities is totally unknown. Either way, it showcases Black Ops Cold War's immense commitment to delivering a rich post-launch experience with free content. This has helped Black Ops Cold War sell like crazy, helping put it in the top 20 best-selling games of all-time after just a few months on the market.

Whether or not the upcoming Call of Duty can maintain the momentum that both Modern Warfare and Black Ops Cold War have helped create is unknown. The 2021 entry is reportedly going to take players back to WWII or the Korean War, but nothing has been confirmed. Given Warzone has been thriving as a result of its fast-paced yet tactical gameplay with cars, helicopters, and modern weapons, it'll be interesting to see if the battle royale could adapt to an older setting. Battlefield V attempted this but didn't succeed very much, but maybe Call of Duty's recent upward trend can help it succeed.
