A glitch making the rounds in the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War multiplayer allows players to equip five guns instead of the usual two. The exploit also allows players to equip and abuse the Skulker perk from Black Ops 4which provides exceptional speed while crouch-walking - as well as spawn with additional armor.

After its release in 202o, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has continued to dominate the paid multiplayer space well into 2021. Indeed, Black Ops Cold War is the best-selling game of 2021 as of May, according to recent NPD data. Even though constant updates, content drops, and brand recognition have propelled Black Ops Cold War up the charts, the game still suffers from hackers and bugs. Season 4 released in June, offering players new weapon, skins, vehicles, and operators across Warzone and Black Ops Cold War. Despite patches arriving alongside the new content, cheaters continue finding ways to exploit the game.

The newest glitch in the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War multiplayer allows cheaters to equip up to five weapons, which is over double the usual two-gun limit. Video of a player implementing the glitch in a match was recorded and posted on Reddit by user MacTavishesBanana on June 30 (via Dexerto). Notably, MacTavish used Theater Mode to record the incident from the perspective of the cheater, ModderPoliceV8. In the video, ModderPolice catches the attention of another player as they crouch-walk past the teammate at an abnormally fast speed. With a captive audience, the cheater proceeds to switch from their first weapon to akimbo pistols, then to an RPG, then to a Nail Gun, finally ending on the Baseball Bat. Though the post references "a dude with 4 weapons," the player is definitely carrying five total.

The glitch appears to be the result of another UI exploit, a type of glitch that was prevalent across both Black Ops 3 and Black Ops 4's multiplayer. Now, the glitch has reemerged in the latest Call of Duty: Black Ops title, allowing players to equip a perk for crouch-walking speed that isn't even from the game, as well as assign weapons to slots normally reserved for Tactical equipment, Lethal equipment, and a Field Upgrade. One can tell by reading over the comments under the post that the glitch is already a known quantity among certain circles of the Black Ops Cold War multiplayer community. Unfortunately, the exploit will likely become more common until the developers can implement a patch.

Hackers and glitches have become synonymous with Call of Duty multiplayer in recent years. The former have more heavily impacted Warzone thanks to the free-to-play nature of the game and the ability to endlessly create new Activision accounts. However, both titles have the same set of issues. Until Activision does more in the way of playtesting and anti-cheat methods, the Call of Duty player base will continue to deal with hackers and recurring glitches.
