The combat in Black Myth: Wukong appears similar in style, but more fast-paced and forgiving — something more like Jedi: Fallen Order, for instance. The pre-alpha footage in the trailer also shows the game's protagonist going head-to-head against several enemies and bosses. However, the gameplay in Black Myth: Wukong also features some unique choices that will surely set it apart.

The game features the legendary figure The Monkey King, or Sun Wukong, which means players are able to shape-shift into other creatures. This adds quite a bit of surrealism and uniqueness to Black Myth: Wukong, since players can transform into other living beings to alter gameplay. The trailer shows off various transformations, including an insect that allows players to fly around and check out their surroundings.

Cool transformations aren't all, though. Game Science Studio has also said its newest game will feature 72 special abilities to use against various foes in combat, and has teased that there are many more creatures to transform into besides the ones shown in the trailer. All of this should meld together nicely to creature a great, shape-shifting action RPG inspired by Dark Souls' popular combat and Chinese myth.

Developers at Game Science Studio have said they won't release the game until they're completely happy with their product, which could mean a long waiting period before Black Myth: Wukong finally releases. In the meantime, there's some great footage for people to watch and analyze in the reveal trailer.
